UPK (Universal Pre-Kindergarten) Teacher

The Clyde-Savannah Central School District has an opening for a UPK Teacher.

The UPK Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for preschool-aged children. The teacher plans and delivers developmentally appropriate instruction that promotes children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth while preparing them for kindergarten success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement age-appropriate lessons aligned with state early learning standards.

  • Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, and independence.

  • Support children's social-emotional development through positive guidance and classroom management techniques.

  • Assess student progress and maintain accurate records of developmental milestones.

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners.

  • Collaborate with special education staff, intervention specialists, and support personnel as needed.

  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and classroom activities.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment.

  • Participate in school events, professional development opportunities, staff meetings, and parent conferences.

  • Ensure compliance with all district, state, and licensing requirements related to early childhood education.



Job Qualifications
  • Valid state teaching certification/licensure in Early Childhood Education.
  • Experience working with preschool or early elementary-aged children preferred.
  • Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with families, colleagues, and community partners.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, and move throughout the school day.

  • Ability to lift and carry classroom materials and assist young children when necessary.
  • Ability to supervise children in both indoor and outdoor learning environments.

Work Environment

The UPK Teacher works in a child-centered elementary school setting and is expected to create an inclusive, welcoming environment that supports the success of all students
