Upper Elementary String Teacher

The Blake School seeks a skilled and passionate part-time string teacher to support the Upper Elementary string program from January-May 2026.

This position is based at Blake’s Upper Elementary campus in Hopkins and involves teaching small-group lessons and assisting with ensemble rehearsals. Requirements:

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach weekly small-group lessons (violin, viola and cello) to enhance student technical proficiency and musical expression
• Serve as a teaching assistant during two elementary string ensemble rehearsals (grade 4)
• Collaborate with Upper Elementary string teachers to align instruction with program goals
• Foster student creativity, discipline and teamwork in a culturally responsive and inclusive environment

Required Qualifications:

• Experience teaching upper elementary string students (grades 2-5)
• Expertise in strings pedagogy, rehearsal planning and implementation
• Experience in both small-group and one-on-one instruction
• BA/BM required; MM preferred
• Strong collaborative and communication skills with students, faculty and administrators

Rate of Pay: $55 per hour

This rate of pay includes the expected rate for this position. In making a rate of pay determination, we consider professional experience, applicable qualifications and other job-related factors. Based on these factors, a candidate's rate of pay offer could exceed this range.
