Director of College Counseling

The Position
The director of college counseling is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive, individualized college counseling program serving Cincinnati Country Day School’s students and families. With the collaboration of the associate director of college counseling and the College Counseling Office assistant, the director supervises and carries out a program of group presentations and intensive individual counseling that extends throughout all phases of the college search process. Informed by the CCDS mission of creating leaders and knowing and nurturing each student, the aim of each college search is to assist students in choosing the college that will best serve their intellectual and personal interests and goals – and the office has had very positive feedback over the years on fit for each class. Cincinnati Country Day School graduates matriculate at an impressively diverse array of the nation's most distinguished colleges and universities annually, a record the school wishes to maintain if not build upon. This is a 12-month position with four weeks of vacation, reporting to the head of Upper School and serving on the Academic Leadership Team of the school.

Candidates seeking the position of director of college counseling should have at least five years of experience in the college admissions/college counseling field. A master’s degree is preferred. Candidates must have excellent communication skills, including strong writing and public speaking abilities and must be well-organized, efficient, and energetic. Earning parental trust in such a role is paramount, relying on a blend of expertise and knowledge with proactive engagement and confidence.

Specific duties of the director of college counseling include:

  • Designing, implementing, and continually refining a four-year college counseling curriculum that supports students’ academic, extracurricular, and personal growth
  • Overseeing and delivering student and parent programming, including information nights, workshops, and events that educate and engage the community about the college process, in the Upper School as well as the Middle School and Lower School;
  • Maintaining clear, timely, and proactive communication with students, parents, and faculty about procedures, deadlines, policies, relevant trends, and the college admissions landscape;
  • Staying current on trends in higher education and admission, representing the school in national and regional associations and conferences;
  • Developing and maintaining cordial and collegial relationships with college admissions offices and hosting representatives on campus, promoting the school’s program and advocating for its students;
  • Providing broad support for students and parents on four-year planning as well as direct support to students and parents, within the director’s caseload, on the appropriate selection of courses;
  • Counseling students and parents in the formulation of a prospective and eventual final list of colleges, with an appropriate application strategy in the fall of senior year, including around scholarships and financial aid programs;
  • Overseeing an efficient and technologically sophisticated system for the organization of student records, accurate maintenance of student records in the school’s counseling software (Naviance or SCOIR), tracking outcomes, and preparing annual reports for internal use;
  • Along with the College Counseling Office assistant, coordinating the administration of standardized tests (e.g., PSAT, SAT, and ACT) and AP exams to the school’s students;
  • Supervising the associate director of college counseling and the College Counseling Office assistant, fostering an open and collaborative environment.

Compensation for this position will be highly competitive nationally, adjusted for Cincinnati’s favorable cost of living.

Part-Time School Nurse Assistant

Position
Cincinnati Country Day School is seeking a part-time school nurse or nurse practitioner to work with the existing full-time school nurse in promoting a healthy school environment and support the school’s health and safety plans across its three divisions.

Schedule
Monday-Friday, 10:30 a.m.- 2:30 p.m.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the full-time nurse with students’ care, illnesses, and injuries
  • Follows Ohio Department of Health guidelines for control of communicable diseases
  • Executes school health procedures and policies
  • Maintains student health data
  • Conducts age-appropriate, required health screenings, and notifies parents when referral for further evaluation is necessary
  • Dispenses prescription medication according to physicians’ orders. Dispenses over-the-counter medication according to standing orders with parent permission. Trains designated staff on administering prescription, over-the-counter, and emergency medications
  • Oversees nursing supplies are properly stocked/inventoried
  • Protects confidential health information as it pertains to any applicable HIPAA, FERPA, or other requirements
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Registered nurse, licensed to practice in Ohio
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience as a school, pediatric, and/or public health nurse preferred
  • CPR and AED certification preferred
  • Knowledge of school health programs such as immunization and other requirements
  • Understanding of pediatric growth and development, allergies, and behavioral health
  • Proficiency in computer operation, including various software applications, including Magnus
  • Ability to exercise excellent judgment in decision-making
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and their parents
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Passionate and loving attitude toward children of all ages
  • Proven ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks in a dynamic and fast-paced environment

Upper School Math Teacher

  • Develop a deep mathematical understanding of why mathematical ideas work and how they connect across topics such as algebra, geometry, functions, and modeling.
  • Cultivate reasoning, sense-making, and the ability to justify solutions.
  • Build procedural fluency and apply mathematics to real-world situations.
  • Master the six major conceptual areas of math (number & quantity, algebra, functions, modeling, geometry, and statistics & probability) to prepare students for college mathematics, technical fields, and informed citizenship.

Qualifications:

  • BS in math or related field, with an advanced degree preferred
  • Besides helping the school and department meet its mission, the candidate should also have enthusiasm for teaching, experience with high school age students, and a willingness to explore new methodologies and technologies for instruction
  • Computer literacy and proficiency, experience with technology in the classroom, and ability to effectively utilize a learning management system

Teaching Expectations:
The teacher will join a congenial and collegial department consisting of five faculty members while being supervised and supported by the math department chair and the head of upper School. Specific responsibilities for this position include:

Upper School Science Teacher

Cincinnati Country Day School is seeking applicants for a full-time science position to begin August 2026. Candidates should have experience teaching chemistry and a willingness/ability to teach in another discipline, such as environmental science or physics. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, student-centered educator whose passion and expertise as a lifelong learner is modeled as a way to inspire and engage students.

The CCDS science curriculum is focused on helping students to:

  • Develop skills in observation, interpretation, reasoning, synthesis, generalizing, predicting, and questioning as a way to learn new knowledge, while critically evaluating the validity of results and sources of error;
  • Collaboratively construct and defend logically coherent explanations of phenomena that incorporate a current understanding of science consistent with the available evidence;
  • Develop scientific problem-solving skills, including organization of available information, identification and application of pertinent principles, quantitative solutions, and interpreting results in the context of current issues and discussions around those issues;
  • Use developing science and technology skills in constructive community engagement that addresses the potential impact on local and global issues, including equality, accessibility, and environmental sustainability.

A regular laboratory period is part of each course, providing students with direct, hands-on experience with laboratory equipment and associated technology. All students are required to take biology and two additional science courses, including a physical science and an advanced science. Currently, the department offers a number of AP courses and electives, and it is common for students to take four years of science, with some students opting to enroll in two science courses in their junior and/or senior years.

  • Computer literacy and proficiency, experience with technology in the classroom, and ability to effectively utilize a learning management system

The teacher will join a congenial and collegial department consisting of five faculty members while being supervised and supported by the science department chair and the head of the upper school. Specific responsibilities for this position include:

  • Teaching three sections of science, including two sections of chemistry and a third section based on enrollment and the teaching needs of the department
  • Providing academic support for students outside of class time during office hours
  • Collaborating and participating actively in the work of the science department on best practices in curriculum development, pedagogy, and assessment
  • Actively participating in the life of the school community
  • Commits to ongoing professional development and staying abreast of innovative, research-informed teaching practices

Community Expectations:

Coaching Requirements:

  • All coaches must possess a Pupil Activity Permit (PAP) through Ohio Department of Education. CCDS will reimburse costs of obtaining certificate and Coaches Toolchest with required courses (will be completed after hire).
  • Background/Fingerprint Check (every five years after hire and any time requested by CCDS)


Athletics is required for 7th and 8th graders at CCDS therefore practices are during the school day. Practices are 2:30-3:20 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, and 2:00-3:20 p.m. on Thursdays. Games and matches are after school or on weekends.

Coaches who can coach multiple seasons at CCDS are welcomed and encouraged.
