General Description
It is the responsibility of the Security guard to provide overnight security for the UMUB residential students and contact the UM Police Department and the UMUB Director when necessary. Living on campus is not required, but there is a room available for the security guard, should they wish to use it. The students will be out of the residence hall from 8:00 A.M. until 12:10 P.M and from 1:15 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. and the building will be quiet so the security guard can sleep.
$17 per hour, plus optional room and board.
Duty Hours: 11:00 P.M. to 7:00 A.M. each night as follows. Note that each week ends at 7:00 A.M. on Friday.
Essential Job Duties
- Monitor the residence hall between 11:00 P.M. and 7:00 A.M. on nights when UMUB residential students are in the building.
- Monitor the camera feed and note anything out of the ordinary. Investigating as necessary.
- Patrol the halls and common spaces and checking that the doors are secure on a random schedule.
- Allow UMUB resident students into the building after 11:00 P.M. and noting their arrival time.
- Respond to incidents and emergencies as appropriate.
- For medical incidents administer first aid as appropriate, make sure the UM Police and UMUB Director are contacted, and complete an incident report.
- For major behavioral incidents (dismissible offences listed in the Student Code of Conduct), contact the RA on call and the UMUB director and complete an incident report.
- For minor behavioral incidents, contact the RA on call and complete an incident report.
- Complete the daily report log at the end of each shift.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Upper-class undergraduate student with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and two written recommendations.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Ability to work with an adolescent age group, understand their needs, and tolerate the often-irrational behavior of teenagers
- Ability to maintain punctuality and professionalism when working with students and UMUB staff
- Ability to act efficiently and quickly in cases of emergencies to contact UM Police, UMUB Staff, and keep students calm

- Drivers License Preferred
