This Role:
Our collaborative leadership team is currently seeking an Industrial Engineer to work in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering reporting to the Director, Advanced Manufacturing. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Grand Rapids, MI or Huntsville, AL. The position will be expected to travel 25% to our other facilities in the US, Canada, and Mexico. However, during the onboarding and training phase, the travel may be closer to 50%.
What You Will Do:
The Industrial Engineer will collaborate closely with all levels of leadership to lead the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of direct labor utilization strategies across the company. This position will support the production system, documenting product routings, manage engineering change orders, and liaise with the production and accounting teams.
How You Will Do It:

IE Strategy Development: Collaborate with executive leadership to develop a comprehensive IE strategy aligned with the organization's overall goals and objectives. Define the roadmap for implementing IE principles and methodologies.

IE Transformation Leadership: Lead the organization through its IE transformation journey by providing guidance, support, and direction to teams at all levels. Champion the adoption of IE practices and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Process Analysis and Improvement: Conduct in-depth analysis of existing processes, systems, and workflows to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement. Lead the assessment, strategy creation, and execution plan for transforming and improving the performance of distressed factories and/or major value streams and product lines. Lead the recovery and transformation through executive coaching, mentoring and implementation of an IE toolkit.

Training and Development: Establish training programs and workshops to coach and develop employees at all levels on IE principles and methodologies. Mentor the site continuous improvement professionals to be true agents of change, improving their change management capabilities (tools and behaviors), and ensure rigor around conducting rapid improvement events.

Metrics and Performance Monitoring: Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of IE initiatives. Regularly analyze and report on performance metrics to executive leadership, identifying successes and areas requiring further attention.

Change Management: Oversee change management initiatives related to the IE transformation, ensuring that employees are engaged, informed, and involved in the process. Address any resistance to change and drive a positive culture shift towards continuous improvement.

Collaboration and Communication: Foster strong cross-functional collaboration and communication to ensure that IE initiatives are aligned with business objectives and supported by all stakeholders. Communicate critical issues to upper management and escalate accordingly.

Continuous Improvement Culture: Instill a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and problem-solving throughout the organization.

IE Best Practices and Benchmarking: Stay up to date with industry best practices, trends, and benchmarking data. Incorporate relevant insights to enhance the organization's transformation efforts.
What We’re Looking For:

Engineering degree (BSIE, BSME, BSMT) with 5 years’ experience in manufacturing operations. Experience in metal stamping, roll forming, welding, painting/finishing, assembly, packaging and distribution are a plus.

Ability to travel up to 25%.

Current/valid U.S. work authorization without requiring future sponsorship.

Knowledge of product costing, documentation and ERP.

Demonstrated skills in: Critical Thinking, Time Management, Complex Problem Solving, Mathematics, Problem-Solving and Decision Making, Effective Communication – written, verbal, interpersonal and presentation skills, Computer Hardware and Software.

Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.

Lean/Six-Sigma and/or Black Belt certification preferred.

Labor analysis motion time study tools, MTM, MOST, MODAPTS or other motion analysis preferred.
