User Experience Designer

POSITION SUMMARY:

The User Experience (UX) Designer role offers opportunities to apply growing skills to more complex and impactful projects. This role works with multiple teams and contributes to the design and development of user experiences for web and native applications. The UX Designer takes on more responsibility by demonstrating independent problem-solving and decision-making while still receiving occasional guidance from senior designers and team leads. The individual focuses on creating user-centered designs that balance functionality and aesthetics, iterating on ideas to refine usability and ensure alignment with business goals. The individual will learn a deeper understanding of responsive design principles, prototyping techniques, and the application of design systems.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Work on projects for 1-2 teams to tackle moderately complex design challenges independently.
  • Create user flows, prototypes, and high-quality visual designs that align with user needs and business goals.
  • Actively participate in design reviews and SCRUM ceremonies and incorporate feedback to refine work.
  • Provide constructive feedback to peers and contribute to improving team processes and outputs.
  • Manage and execute design tasks independently to produce detailed UX artifacts that support development and project goals.
  • Ensure designs align with responsive design principles and design system standards.
  • Apply and contribute to the design system by utilizing and occasionally suggesting improvements to existing components.
  • Use tools like Figma to create consistent, scalable designs that meet team standards and user expectations.
  • Understand the “why” behind business goals and align your design decisions accordingly.
  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure designs are feasible and impactful.
  • Handle other duties as assigned to meet evolving organizational needs.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Proficiency in UX design tools, user research, and wire-framing techniques.
  • Has a basic understanding of front-end development concepts to collaborate effectively with developers.
  • Ability to work within a SCRUM environment and build positive relationships across teams.
  • Demonstrates independent decision-making to solve moderately complex design challenges.
  • Produces high-quality work with minimal revisions and manages tasks efficiently.
  • Enthusiasm for learning new tools, techniques, and methodologies to improve design processes.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in UX design, human-computer interaction, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in UX design, applying design principles to real-world projects.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The UX Designer works in an office or home office environment.
  • No travel is required.
