Veneer Stitcher / Layup Technician

Join our growing custom architectural millwork shop in Bloomsbury, NJ. We're looking for a skilled Veneer Stitcher / Layup Technician to sequence, stitch, and lay veneer for high-end commercial and residential projects. If you have an eye for grain matching and take pride in producing flawless veneer faces, we want to talk.

Responsibilities

• Sequence and match veneer leaves (book-match, slip-match, balance-match) according to shop drawings and elevations.
• Splice and stitch veneer using a veneer splicer/stitcher and veneer tape.
• Lay up veneer onto MDF, plywood, particleboard, and specialty substrates.
• Operate veneer presses and related equipment.
• Inspect faces for grain match, tight joints, color consistency, and defects before pressing.
• Trim, repair, and prepare finished panels for machining and finishing.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Skills & Experience

• Experience stitching and laying veneer in an architectural millwork, cabinetmaking, furniture, yacht, or panel manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of veneer matching methods, wood species, and flitch sequencing.
• Familiarity with veneer splicers/stitchers, presses, and veneer repair techniques.
• Ability to read shop drawings, elevations, and veneer layouts.
• Strong attention to detail and steady, precise handwork.
• Dependable, self-motivated, and committed to producing high-end work.
