Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Venture Capital Managing Partner to lead the strategic direction, fundraising, and investment activities of our venture capital fund. The Managing Partner will be the primary face of the firm to founders, limited partners (LPs), and key ecosystem players, responsible for building a high‑performance team, deploying capital across early‑stage companies, and driving strong fund returns.
Key Responsibilities
- Fund strategy & thesis
- Define and refine the fund’s investment thesis, stages (e.g., pre‑seed to Series B), and sector focus.
- Oversee portfolio construction, risk allocation, and exit strategy across the fund cycle.
- Fundraising & LP relations
- Lead capital formation for the current fund and future vehicles, including sourcing, pitching, and closing LP commitments from institutional investors, family offices, and HNWIs.
- Maintain strong, transparent relationships with existing LPs through regular reporting, calls, and meetings.
- Deal sourcing & investment execution
- Lead the end‑to‑end investment process: identify, evaluate, and negotiate deals, including term sheets, valuations, and deal structures.
- Take final‑decision authority or co‑lead investment committee decisions, ensuring alignment with the fund’s strategy and risk profile.
- Portfolio & founder support
- Act as a board member or key advisor to portfolio companies, helping founders with strategy, hiring, fundraising, and operational scaling.
- Facilitate follow‑on financings, partnerships, and exit opportunities (trade sales, IPOs, etc.).
- Team leadership & firm building
- Build, mentor, and manage a high‑performing investment team (Principals, Associates, Analysts) and support staff.
- Establish and refine internal processes for deal flow, due diligence, reporting, and compliance.
- Ecosystem & brand leadership
- Represent the fund at conferences, media, and industry events to strengthen the firm’s brand and network.
- Build strategic relationships with accelerators, corporates, government entities, and other stakeholders to source deals and co‑invest.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience
- 10+ years of experience in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, or as a founder/CEO with a track record of successful exits and value creation.
- Proven experience leading or co‑leading a fund (or fund‑size mandate), including fundraising from LPs and managing a portfolio.
- Investment & operational skills
- Strong track record in sourcing, executing, and managing early‑stage venture investments with demonstrable returns.
- Deep understanding of venture economics (carry, waterfall, fund structure, term sheets), company valuation, and governance.
- Leadership & communication
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage partners, and foster a collaborative, high‑integrity culture.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with comfort presenting to founders, boards, and sophisticated LPs.
- Location & language
- Based in or willing to relocate to [e.g., Muscat, Oman], with strong local and regional network in the GCC or target markets.
- Fluent English; Arabic is a strong plus for regional engagements.
Pay: RO14.000 - RO31.000 per hour
