Wildwood Animal Hospital & Clinic is seeking a compassionate, dependable Veterinary Assistant to join our team. This role supports our veterinarians and Certified Veterinary Technicians in providing high-quality care for our patients during exams, treatments, surgery, dentistry, and hospitalized care.
As a Veterinary Assistant, you play an important role in helping pets feel safe, cared for, and supported while also helping the hospital team run smoothly.

What You’ll Do
As a Veterinary Assistant, you help support patient care, hospital flow, cleanliness, safety, and communication between the veterinary team and clients.
Patient Care & Handling
Assist veterinarians and technicians during exams, treatments, and procedures
Help safely restrain pets using Fear Free handling techniques to reduce stress
Assist with feeding, walking, cleaning, and comforting hospitalized pets
Monitor patients before, during, and after treatments or procedures and alert the team to concerns. Advocate for patient comfort, safety, and emotional well-being
Treatment, Surgery & Dental Support
Prepare exam, treatment, surgical, and dental areas with needed supplies and equipment
Assist with surgical and dental preparation as directed by technicians and doctors
Clean and sterilize surgical instruments and dental equipment according to hospital protocols. Help maintain surgical suites, treatment areas, kennels, and exam rooms
Hospital Support
Restock supplies and keep treatment areas organized
Assist with laundry, cleaning, sweeping, mopping, and general hospital upkeep
Help maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment
Support the team with daily tasks that help appointments and procedures run smoothly
Team Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with veterinarians, Certified Veterinary Technicians, assistants, and receptionists
Communicate important patient updates to the veterinary team
Assist with medical records and documentation as directed
Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients when providing basic care instructions or follow-up information.

What We’re Looking For
Prior veterinary or animal care experience required
High school diploma or equivalent required
A genuine passion for animal care, welfare, and patient advocacy
Ability to work well in a fast-paced veterinary hospital environment
Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow protocols
Ability to communicate professionally with staff and clients
A team-focused attitude with the ability to stay self-motivated
Willingness to learn, grow, and accept coaching
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand, sit, kneel, and crouch for extended periods of time
Commitment to Fear Free handling and compassionate patient care
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
