Veterinary Receptionist

We’re looking for a caring, organised, and positive person to join our lovely front of house team as a Client Care Advisor.

We are a busy first-opinion veterinary practice with a strong focus on both clinical excellence and client care. We are incredibly proud of the positive and supportive working environment we have built at Truro Vets for Pets and are looking for someone who will contribute positively to our team culture.

Our reception team plays a huge part in what we do you’ll be the first smile clients see and the first voice they hear, so warmth, patience, and kindness are incredibly important. This is a busy and demanding role, and the ability to remain calm, organised, and compassionate while managing a fast-paced workload is essential.

No veterinary experience is required, although it would be beneficial, Previous customer facing experience is essential, whether in reception, retail, hospitality, or a similar role. A genuine love of people and of course their pets is vital. What matters most is that you enjoy working with people, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and genuinely care about providing outstanding service.

Hours

Approximately 17-21 hours per week:

  • Monday: 2:00pm – 7:30pm
  • Wednesday: 2:00pm – 7:30pm
  • Friday: 8:30am – 2:00pm
  • Saturday: 8:45am – 12:45pm

We aim to keep rotas consistent, although some flexibility is appreciated to help cover holidays and sickness. Bank Holidays are shared across the reception team (usually 1–2 per year).

About the Role

This is a busy and demanding role where no two days are the same. Our reception team manages a high volume of calls, clients, administrative tasks, and emergencies while helping to keep the practice running smoothly.

The role is fast-paced and sometimes emotionally challenging, so it’s important that applicants are comfortable working under pressure, multitasking efficiently, and remaining calm, professional, and compassionate during busy periods.

Responsibilities include:

  • Booking appointments and managing diaries
  • Organising surgical bookings and clearly explaining instructions to clients
  • Speaking with clients about healthcare plans and treatment options
  • Assisting in the dispensary
  • Sending records and managing lab results
  • Taking payments
  • Keeping reception tidy, organised, and welcoming
  • Working closely with vets, nurses, and the wider team
