Job Summary
Rainbow Veterinary Hospital is looking for a Veterinary Receptionist / Client Service Representative to support our front desk, client communication, scheduling, and patient follow-up systems.
This role is a key part of the hospital team. The right person is organized, reliable, comfortable speaking with clients by phone and text, and able to keep track of details in a busy veterinary setting. Veterinary experience is preferred, but the most important qualities are strong communication, good judgment, accuracy, and the ability to stay calm while handling multiple priorities.
Primary Responsibilities
- Welcome clients and pets when they arrive for appointments.
- Answer phones, emails, and text messages professionally and efficiently.
- Schedule appointments and help manage the hospital calendar.
- Confirm appointments, follow up on missed appointments, and assist with recalls and recheck reminders.
- Communicate with clients about medication refills, pending recommendations, lab result follow-ups, treatment plan next steps, and upcoming visits.
- Document client communications clearly in the patient record.
- Process payments, review balances, and assist with basic front desk financial tasks.
- Maintain accurate client and patient information, including contact details, reminders, medical history, and appointment notes.
- Recognize urgent or medically concerning client messages and notify the appropriate team member.
- Help keep the reception area clean, organized, and welcoming.
- Support the veterinary team with basic patient handling or kennel support when needed and appropriate.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous veterinary hospital experience is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology is helpful.
- Strong phone, email, and text communication skills.
- Ability to stay organized while managing appointments, client questions, and follow-up tasks.
- Comfort discussing payments and collecting balances professionally.
- Good attention to detail when documenting notes and updating records.
- Ability to work well with doctors, technicians, assistants, kennel staff, and other front desk team members.
- Comfort around dogs and cats, including basic animal handling when needed.
- A dependable, team-focused attitude and a genuine interest in helping pets receive timely care.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
