Overview:
Evercore is seeking a highly motivated Vice President, Corporate Controller to join the Finance team, reporting to the Group Controller – Corporate Functions. This role will play an integral part in supporting the Firm’s Corporate Group Functions, with focused ownership of the accounting and cost oversight of the Firm’s Technology Investment and its broader impact across the organization. The successful candidate will contribute to the groups’ budgeting, forecasting, and monthly/quarterly close processes, own accounting coverage of Technology Investment, lead key centralized Corporate Financing reporting packages, and support and develop junior team members. This role will also be responsible for preparing and maintaining support schedules that contribute to the Firm’s quarterly and annual public reporting.
Primary Responsibilities:Technology Investment Oversight:
Manage and lead Technology Investment finance/accounting oversight, providing focused ownership of a rapidly growing cost base to maintain effective cost governance and support timely decision-making
Lead and enhance the ongoing management of contingent worker and employee capitalization processes
Manage the annual technology investment plan, partnering closely with the Technology SLT to deliver accurate and timely analysis
Proactively identify accounting booking errors, cost trends, and cost-saving and optimization opportunities across the Technology Investment portfolio
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
Consolidate the global corporate picture of financials across regions and functions into a single, coherent view for senior leadership, advancing operational priorities and cross-functional initiatives
Enhance and manage centralized corporate reporting processes, streamlining workflows in response to growing global reporting requirements and collaborating cross-functionally with global corporate groups on key business initiatives
Support Corporate Group compensation planning, partnering with HCG to model, track, and analyze compensation across the corporate functions
Provide variance analysis on budget-to-actual results of non-compensation expenses to corporate group leaders and Group Controller on a monthly/quarterly basis
Synthesize complex financial analysis into clear, actionable communications and management presentation materials for quarterly reviews and Management Committee requests
Provide additional support for ad hoc strategic analyses, improving depth of review and reducing concentration and key-person risk
Accounting Operations:
Partner with the Head of Procurement to help build out an understanding of our firms licenses and contingent workers
Collaborate closely with the Accounts Payable and Finance/Controller teams in the US and Europe to ensure accurate invoice and accrual processing, including reviewing entries during month-end close and initiating reclassifications or updates as needed
Coordinate with the SEC/Accounting Policy team to provide support for filings, as needed
Ensure month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes are completed on time and accurately
Manage internal projects and ensure proper accounting for related project expenses, including project timing, recognition of newly acquired assets, and review of new and existing contracts
Specific Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a strong team-based attitude and work ethic. They will be ambitious and resourceful, as well as intellectually curious and eager to learn. Additional qualifications include:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent a plus 8/9+ years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, or a related role within financial services, including experience leading or managing others
Experience mentoring, developing, and liaising with junior members of the team
Experience with technology investment accounting, capitalization, and cost governance preferred
Experience with financial systems and ERP platforms
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, accuracy, and analysis in day-to-day workflows
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (advanced functions, financial modeling)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with senior leadership and external stakeholders
Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
Integrity and sound ethical judgment
Strategic, adaptable mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement
Expected Base Salary Range: $140,000 - $150,000
This position requires valid United States work authorization and is not eligible for employer visa sponsorship.
