Position Overview

The Vice President of Finance is responsible for directing the fiscal functions of Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries, Inc. in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and company standards. Maintains and provides financial information to facilitate educated economic decisions regarding daily and strategic organizational goals. Executes the company vision, implements procedures and resources, and optimizes efficiency. Represents the company positively through a success-oriented and professional demeanor.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Five or more years of experience in executive leadership roles

Excellent leadership skills characterized by steadfast resolve, personal integrity, and a strong analytical, data-driven mindset. Ability to inspire employees to live up to their potential and optimize productivity

Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate information to multiple audiences

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in accounting, business accounting, or finance

Professional certification (ex: Certified Public Accountant)

Proficient with the Microsoft 365, ADP, SAGE, and NetSuite

Responsibilities

1.

Financial Management and Reporting:

Gather and compile necessary financial information to develop and complete the annual budget. Ensure accurate and timely preparation and submission of the annual budget in collaboration with relevant departments.

Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports to the CEO monthly and to the board of directors at scheduled meetings. Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.

Maintain financial and accounting system controls to ensure timely reports.

Review and analyze financial data for financial statements and reports on a monthly basis.

Oversee reconciliation of accounts on a monthly basis.

Manage cash and other funds to ensure financial stability.

Oversee billing and accounts receivable, ensuring timely collections of funds owed to the organization.

Oversee accounts payable to ensure timely remittance of payments owed by the organization.

Strategic Planning and Investment:

Analyze financial surpluses and recommend strategic short-term investment plans to optimize the use of excess revenue, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and maintaining liquidity for operational needs.

Develop and implement financial strategies to support the organization’s growth and stability.

Identify and manage financial risks, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Compliance and Audit:

Oversee the compilation of actual financial results, including budgeting, tax, and audit activities.

Oversee the filing of all tax reports in a timely manner (Sales Taxes, Payroll Taxes, Unemployment Taxes, etc.).

Maintain government reporting as appropriate.

Oversee annual fiscal audit and 401k audit, if applicable.

Stay up to date on federal, state, and local legal updates relevant to accounting and finance. Interpret and communicate the impact of these updates to the CEO and executive leadership team.

Operational Oversight:

Oversee payroll operations as assigned, ensuring timely submission and payment of biweekly payroll.

Communicate with financial institutions as needed to facilitate financial operations of the organization.

Review and follow document retention guidelines.

Evaluate and enhance financial systems and technologies to improve efficiency, accuracy, and reporting capabilities. Implement best practices and innovative solutions to streamline financial operations.

Team Leadership:

Empower the team with the leadership and resources they need to successfully complete their initiatives.

Hire, train, evaluate, and coach direct reports.

Communicate appropriately and positively with co-workers and others.

Pay: From $75,000.00 per year
