Location and Work

This position can be remote on the East Coast, preferably, or Hybrid at either our Independence, Ohio, or Emerald Isle, North Carolina locations.

About the Position and the Team

As we continue to scale, we are looking for a visionary VP of Engineering to lead our technology efforts and drive the development of our next-generation platform.

The VP of Engineering will be driving the technical strategy, architecture, and development of our SaaS platform. You will collaborate closely with product, operations, and leadership teams to ensure our platform is innovative, scalable, secure, and customer centric. This role requires strong leadership, hands-on technical expertise, and a deep understanding of building and scaling SaaS platforms, including managing offshore teams.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Set the technical direction for the engineering team, ensuring alignment with the company’s vision and goals.
  • Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing engineering team, including offshore and distributed teams. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Platform Development: Oversee the architecture, design, and development of our supply chain SaaS platform, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
  • AI Integration: Drive the adoption and implementation of AI and machine learning technologies within the platform to enhance product capabilities and optimize operations.
  • Agile Excellence: Lead and implement Agile development practices across engineering teams, ensuring efficient, iterative development, continuous improvement, and high-quality deliverables.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with product, customer success, and leadership teams to prioritize features, technical debt, and customer feedback.
  • Innovation: Drive innovation by adopting new technologies and best practices, ensuring the platform remains at the cutting edge of the supply chain industry.
  • Operational Excellence: Implement engineering processes and best practices, including continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) and DevOps.
  • Offshore Team Management: Scale and manage offshore engineering teams, ensuring seamless collaboration, communication, and integration with onshore teams.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, clients, and partners to deliver on strategic goals and initiatives.
  • Budgeting & Resource Allocation: Manage the engineering budget, resources, and ensure optimal utilization across teams.
  • Vendor Management: Oversee relationships with third-party vendors, ensuring that integrations, tools, and services support our platform’s growth and stability.
  • Job responsibilities and any other duties needed to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and support our organization’s values.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years in a leadership role at a SaaS company.
  • Proven experience in building, scaling, and operating SaaS platforms, ideally within supply chain, logistics, or related industries.
  • Demonstrated experience in scaling and managing offshore teams, with a track record of ensuring smooth collaboration across time zones.
  • Deep experience with Agile development methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, and other iterative development practices, ensuring fast delivery of high-quality software.
  • Experience with integrating AI and machine learning technologies in SaaS products, including developing AI-driven features and optimizing platform performance using AI.
  • Deep understanding of cloud technologies (Azure), microservices architecture, and modern development practices.
  • Experience with enterprise-grade security, compliance, and data privacy requirements.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset and attention to detail.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. A Master’s degree or equivalent experience is a plus.
