Home of the Innocents is seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking, and energetic leader to serve as our Vice President of Respiratory Therapy. This role is an exciting opportunity for a highly competent professional who is passionate about strengthening and growing a best-in-class respiratory therapy program to meet the evolving needs of the children, young adults, and families we serve.
Day in the Life
The Vice President of Respiratory Therapy will provide strategic leadership, clinical oversight, and subject matter expertise to ensure the highest standards of respiratory care across the organization. This leader will guide program development, drive innovation, and support operational excellence while fostering a culture grounded in collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
This is a full-time, exempt position within a 24/7 healthcare environment supporting resident and organizational needs. The role may require occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays, as well as flexibility to work extended hours during high-demand periods, special projects, or organizational needs. This position is primarily on-site at the Kosair for Kids Complex Care Center (KCC), with occasional remote work and travel as needed.

How This Position Contributes to Our Mission
- Serve as a KCC Leadership Team member, providing strategic direction for RT functions and education while driving program excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and continuous improvement in clinical outcomes.
- Lead RT quality improvement and compliance initiatives through data analysis, quarterly reviews, and cross-team collaboration to ensure evidence-based practices and achievement of performance benchmarks.
- Partner with the SVP/Administrator and KCC Leadership on the Facility Assessment and Annual Plans, aligning RT services with organizational priorities and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and manage RT financial objectives in partnership with the SVP/Administrator to meet fiscal targets and sustain operations.
- Recruit, develop, and oversee a high-performing RT team; ensure effective staffing, equitable compensation, optimized resource utilization, and adherence to compliance standards.

- Knowledge of (or willingness to learn) long-term care regulations and compliance standards
- Proficiency with EMR systems and accurate clinical documentation
- A compassionate, culturally responsive approach with a high level of integrity and professionalism
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field
- Active, unencumbered Kentucky Respiratory Therapist license
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), NBRC
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or ability to obtain)
- 5+ years of Respiratory Therapy experience in acute or long-term care
- 2+ years of leadership experience
- Ability to meet all pre-employment and ongoing compliance requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher
- Experience with CLIA moderately complex lab services
- Pediatric acute or long-term care experience
- Experience with quality improvement, outcomes, and data reporting
