Role Summary:

The Vice President, Procurement is responsible for developing and executing the company’s overall procurement and inventory management plan. This includes interpreting and executing the Product Line Management (PLM) strategies in a way that optimizes spend, inventory turns, and margin dollars. This role is responsible for developing, managing and maintaining the regional inventory profiles. This individual will be in control of inventory planning and procurement processes. This involves procurement, return merchandise authorization (RMA), allocations, and the purchasing administration departments. The Vice President, Procurement will lead Inventory management, strategic planning, supplier relationship management, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure efficient and cost-effective procurement operations.


Key Responsibilities:

Procurement:

  • Execute the Product Line Management (PLM) plans across all products to optimize inventory turns, drive to and maintain competitive inventory profiles and lead the procurement and inventory planning teams
  • Responsible for the company’s inventory turns, customer service level performance, and fill rate
  • Continuously assess and improve procurement processes to enhance efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality standards
  • Develop and execute comprehensive procurement strategies to meet the demands of the business unit. Work with Product Line Management (PLM) to determine optimum import and domestic partner mix
  • Oversee and manage procurement operations, ensuring the availability of high-quality products at competitive prices
  • Participates in supplier contract negotiations to maximize cost-effectiveness and ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations
  • Monitor market trends, industry developments, and technological advancements to identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation
  • Lead the purchasing administration team to ensure accurate and efficient processing of purchase orders and all related documentation and tasks
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations in all purchasing activities
  • Expediting and on-order management to ensure timely delivery and fulfillment of customer orders
  • Deliver inventory strategy including inbound inventory management, transfers, expired material, expedites, excess and obsolete, confirmations and updates
  • Ensures quality product data through system maintenance

Allocations:

  • Manage product allocations to ensure optimal inventory management and product strategy
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve allocation issues and optimize product flow
  • Utilize inventory to mitigate shorts and scrap

RMA

  • Oversee the RMA process to ensure timely and efficient handling of returns and exchanges
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve RMA issues with customers, finance, sales, operations and vendors

Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Foster strong relationships with key suppliers, vendors, and partners to ensure a reliable and sustainable supply chain network
  • Ensures favorable terms and fosters a collaborative environment with suppliers
  • Monitor supplier performance and compliance with agreed terms and conditions

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Analyze data and performance metrics to generate actionable insights, KPIs, and reports across various functions within scope
  • Prepare and present reports on departments performance, including key metrics and improvement recommendations
  • Utilize data analytics tools to drive data-driven decision-making and optimize departmental processes

Performance Monitoring and Improvement:

  • Develop and implement performance monitoring systems to track the effectiveness of departments’ processes
  • Identify and implement future state system enhancements to improve department accuracy and efficiency
  • Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance departments capabilities and reduce costs across all various functions within scope

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with sales, operations, finance, product line management, and marketing teams to ensure alignment and effective communication of procurement strategies
  • Work closely with stakeholders to optimize product flow, drive process improvements, and enhance overall supply chain performance


Qualifications & Skills:

Essential:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8-10 years of related experience in procurement, supply chain, or inventory management, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial or leadership role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field required
  • Strong understanding of procurement best practices, inventory control systems, and supply chain management principles
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in utilizing procurement software, ERP systems, and data analytics tools
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment
  • Strategic thinker with a customer-centric approach
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Adaptable and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred
  • Experience in the redistribution or distribution industry


Work Environment:

  • The role is primarily office-based with standard working hours. The office features modern amenities, collaborative workspaces, and technology to support remote work and virtual meetings
  • The role requires occasional travel to meet with customers, suppliers, and attend industry events. Travel may include domestic and international destinations, depending on business needs
