Position Summary

Segment Profile: Carlyle AlpInvest
Carlyle AlpInvest (“AlpInvest”) helps investors meet their objectives through tailored portfolio construction and rigorous investment selection. AlpInvest currently manages over $90 billion of AUM across private equity and credit investments, and is a leading investor across the Secondary, Co-Investment, Portfolio Finance (NAV / Fund finance), and Primary Fund markets. The segment has approximately 200 employees based in New York, London, Amsterdam, Hong Kong and Tokyo.

Department Description:
The AlpInvest Investor Relations (“IR”) team is responsible for IR-related activities across the segment, as well as new business development and fundraising activities across both its flagship fund products, as well as multi-strategy solutions for both institutional and private wealth client bases.

Position Summary:
Carlyle AlpInvest seeks to hire a Vice President, Product Specialist within the Investor Relations Team, supporting fundraising, business development, and capital markets initiatives for AlpInvest’s rapidly growing Portfolio Finance franchise. Portfolio Finance at AlpInvest includes our Strategic Portfolio Finance segment, which is bifurcated into two flagship funds dedicated to investing in direct Portfolio Finance (NAV Lending) investments and Private Credit Secondary Investments. The platform also includes AlpInvest’s Senior Portfolio Lending business which makes similar investments with a focus on investment grade capital solutions lower down on the risk return curve. Finally, the right professional will also have an opportunity to gain exposure to AlpInvest’s growing Structured Products fundraising platform, work on the syndication of deal level co-investments, and support the issuance and client service functions for both new and existing rated note feeders, collateralized fund obligations and other potential securitization type products.


The Portfolio Finance Product Specialist plays a critical role in driving the Portfolio Finance team’s fundraising and capital markets efforts and will work collaboratively with the broader AlpInvest IR team, Carlyle’s global sales force and relationship managers, Portfolio Finance Product leadership, and the strategy’s investment team. This person will work across the entire product lifecycle from ideation and structuring, to fundraising execution and ongoing client service. They will serve as a subject matter expert providing detailed investment information, market insights, performance updates, and education to client stakeholders while also sitting at the internal nexus of the business to assist across a wide range of strategic initiatives.

The role will include significant interaction with existing limited partners and prospective investors. The successful candidate must be able to build expertise in AlpInvest’s Credit Oriented strategies, prioritize multiple projects and work under pressure in a deadline oriented environment while consistently delivering high quality work product. Ideally, the right candidate brings a pro-active and growth oriented attitude to the role and operates well within a small team environment. This is a unique opportunity for someone to join one of the most quickly growing business segments across Carlyle AlpInvest.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with AlpInvest’s Head of IR, Portfolio Finance product leadership, internal investment teams and sales professionals to develop and execute sales and marketing strategies around AlpInvest’s credit oriented commingled funds, separate accounts, co-invest syndications, and structured products issuances.
  • Provide ongoing, real-time updates on product performance, market trends, and the competitive landscape to relationship managers, investor clients, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Research product design best practices to inform future commingled fund products and potential products targeted towards the insurance and retail investor channels
  • Create tailored, high-impact content such as flipbooks, DDQs, quarterly investor updates and a broad array of other marketing, research, and diligence materials on an as needed basis.
  • Respond to client inquiries on the Portfolio Finance strategies and underlying market trends.
  • Support sales meetings and presentations with investment insights and portfolio updates.
  • Collaborate with marketing, investor services, product strategy, and business development teams to support product development, marketing, and other initiatives.
  • Conduct competitive research across alternative asset classes and product structures to maintain market awareness.
  • Drafting and positioning of marketing materials for AlpInvest funds and new product initiatives
  • Support development of due diligence materials and legal documentation
  • Assist segment leadership with new product and strategy initiatives, and presentations to Firm leadership
  • Work with senior leadership to support key presentations internally and externally
  • Serve as internal expert on AlpInvest products to support the global Sales team
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior members of the AlpInvest Portfolio Finance Product team and broader AlpInvest IR team

Qualifications

Education & Certificates
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Series 7 and 63 required or must be obtained within 90 days after commencement
  • CAIA, CFA preferred

Professional Experience
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in investment banking, asset management, consulting, or capital markets, ideally with a focus on alternatives/private credit.
  • Strong understanding of private equity products, market dynamics, and client needs.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and client relationship skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with clients.
  • Experience working with or knowledge of leading alternative asset managers
  • Self-Starter, with the ability to work well under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented; attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Flexibility to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team

Position-specific Technical Requirements
  • Advanced Microsoft Office (including Excel and PowerPoint) skills required
  • CRM system including DealCloud is preferred
  • Ability to quickly develop competency in manipulating various reporting platforms and systems to obtain usable LP data

Benefits/Compensation
The compensation range for this role is specific to New York and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to the skill sets required/preferred; prior experience and training; licenses and/or certifications.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $200,000.
