Principal Duties & Responsibilities
1. Advocate for victims/survivors of domestic violence, teen dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, and other crimes of violence by working with the Prosecuting Attorney, Law Enforcement officers, and other agencies, ensuring a coordinated community response.
2. Assist victims with completing and filing paperwork, including protection orders or personal safety orders.
3. Inform victims of their rights and provide any available updates to their cases.
4. Facilitate initial interviews for victims with the police and Prosecuting Attorney.
5. Maintain and/or develop good working relationships with other front-line professionals and their organizations.
6. Develop or enhance an existing community based multi-disciplinary group of key stakeholders.
7. Conduct a stakeholder assessment about barriers and strengths for enhanced collaboration.
8. Recruit a diverse team of allies to form a CCR/SART team in the community.
9. Prepare and timely submit reports to the Financial Director.
10. Collect and maintain required statistical information on services provided under the grant participate in grant evaluation and monitoring.
11. Keep accurate files, time records, and enter data of services provided.
12. Assist clients in applying for WV DHHR benefits, housing, legal assistance, relocation expenses, and job services, medical and other necessary resources. Transport when necessary.
13. Provide advocacy and emotional support to victims during trial.
14. Attend regularly scheduled trainings and partner meetings.
15. Participate in community outreach.
16. Works as a liaison between the police, criminal prosecutors, courts, and sexual assault victims.
17. Assists in handling crisis calls and serve as staff on-call in rotation with other staff members.
18. Assist in recruiting, screening, training, and supervising volunteers.
19. Keeps informed and knowledgeable about FRC programs, attends training opportunities, meetings, and professional organizations, etc.
20. Serves as effective representative for FRC and its programs.
21. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- College degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, or related field preferred. High School Diploma or GED required.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and huma relation skills, group dynamics, knowledge of community resources.
- Ability to manage time, work independently and handle several projects at once.
- Proven excellent communication skills (oral and written), organizational skills, record keeping skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
- Discretion and confidentiality required.
- Reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and automobile insurance required.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
