Social Media Videographer & Editor Internship

About Fish the West
Fish the West is a cinematic fly-fishing documentary series focused on telling authentic stories about anglers, guides, conservation, and fisheries across California and the American West.
Our mission is simple:
Show the people, places, and stories that make fishing meaningful.
We’re looking for a motivated intern who wants real-world experience creating content in the fishing industry and helping grow a media brand from the ground up.
What You’ll Do
Social Media
- Edit Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, TikToks, and Facebook content
- Create engaging captions and social media posts
- Assist with content scheduling and publishing
- Track performance and identify successful content trends
- Help brainstorm content ideas and series concepts
Production
- Assist on fishing and documentary shoots
- Capture behind-the-scenes footage
- Operate cameras and audio equipment (training provided if needed)
- Help organize media and project files
- Support production logistics and shoot preparation
Creative Development
- Learn documentary storytelling
- Learn content strategy and audience growth
- Participate in editing reviews and creative discussions
- Gain experience working on real-world commercial and documentary projects
Requirements
Must Have
- Passion for fishing (fly fishing preferred)
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Ability to work independently
- Reliable transportation
- Basic familiarity with social media platforms
- Willingness to travel occasionally for shoots
- Desire to learn and improve
Preferred
- Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve
- Photography or videography experience
- Knowledge of fly-fishing culture, techniques, and terminology
- Experience creating social media content
- Drone experience (not required)

Internship Details
- Flexible schedule
- Hybrid remote and on-location work
- Approximately 10–20 hours per week
- Internship position with opportunity to transition into a paid role
Growth Opportunity
This is not a coffee-running internship.
We’re looking for someone who wants to build a career in outdoor media, content creation, fishing, filmmaking, or social media marketing.
The right candidate will have the opportunity to grow into a paid position as Fish the West continues to expand.
