The British Embassy Riyadh has a vacancy for a Technology Trade Advisor under the Department for Business and Trade (DBT), job grade Higher Executive Officer (HEO), on a fixed term contract for one (1) year, with possibility of renewal.

The purpose of this role is to drive UK economic growth by supporting UK companies to export to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). This work contributes to the Embassy's wider Strategic Economic Growth Plan, which underpins the UK Prime Minister's Growth Mission.

Reporting to the Deputy Country Director, the role will be responsible for delivering sector-focused trade campaigns.

  • Providing key account management to UK exporters with high growth potential in the KSA market.
  • Managing relationships with companies in Saudi Arabia that require international technology, solutions, and expertise for their projects.
  • Identifying, validating, and prioritising a pipeline of commercial opportunities in the KSA that align UK capabilities with Saudi market needs.
  • Delivering activities that give UK companies access to Saudi decision-makers, enabling valuable insights, stronger networks, and greater influence.
  • Supporting policy and regulatory initiatives that help shape the business environment, making it more transparent, efficient, and accessible for UK firms operating in the market.

The jobholder will work closely with relevant UK government departments and Embassy teams to ensure that sector campaigns are aligned with, and supported by, wider HMG initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Develop a strong understanding of policies and regulations that influence the delivery of technology services and products within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  • Collaborate with the embassy, Saudi counterparts, and other key partners to identify opportunities for enhancing UK technology market access in Saudi Arabia through targeted policy engagement and lobbying.
  • Provide informed advice and practical support to UK technology companies seeking to enter or expand within the Saudi market.
  • Build and maintain networks across relevant sectors and within the Saudi public sector to stimulate increased interest and participation from UK technology companies in KSA.
  • Lead briefings, events, and trade missions designed to support UK technology companies exploring business opportunities in Saudi Arabia.
  • Work closely with embassy partners to deliver high-impact programmes for visiting ministers, business delegations, and stakeholders in the technology sector.
  • Attend and provide support to UK companies and potential Saudi partners at trade shows and events both in the UK and across the region.
  • Partner with embassy and UK government marketing and communications teams to develop campaigns that raise the profile of UK technologies in Saudi Arabia and encourage greater UK engagement in the Saudi market.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • Proven experience in key account management, senior-level networking, and effective stakeholder management.
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying, validating, and prioritising export pipelines.
  • Experience delivering events, trade missions, and high-level visits within an embassy or similar institutional environment.
  • Strong understanding of the Saudi market, particularly within the technology sector.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and able to influence and network confidently with industry leaders, government officials, and senior businesspeople.
  • Team player who is capable of working on their own initiative and manage others. Ability to effectively work and collaborate across teams and stakeholders based across multiple locations.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and spoken. Able to express ideas and messages clearly and concisely.
Desirable Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • Experience and knowledge of engaging with policy and regulatory frameworks within the technology sector.
Benefits
  • The British Embassy provides visa sponsorship. The British Embassy will be able to employ you on the condition that we are able to obtain the required residence and work permit in Saudi.
  • If you already have the right to work and reside in Saudi (iqama), you will be required to transfer your visa under the Embassy's sponsorship.
  • Monthly salary details: Base Salary - 15,968.00 SAR; Housing Allowance - 3,922.00 SAR (subject to eligibility); Travel Allowance - 500.00 SAR (subject to eligibility); Total - 20,460.00 SAR.
  • No accommodation nor relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.
  • This position is for a fixed term contract for one (1) year, with possibility of renewal.
  • The position is full-time, based on 35 hours per week.
  • Working hours from 08:00 to 15:00 from Sunday to Thursday, with core working hours 10:00-15:00; flexible periods outside core hours.
  • Flexible working arrangements may be considered based on operational requirements and agreement with the line manager.
  • Successful candidate will be subject to a 90-day probationary period.
  • Successful candidate will be required to transfer their iqama under the Embassy's sponsorship.
