Visitor Services Staff

Position Description:

The ideal candidate will be energetic, with a can-do attitude, ambitious, friendly, and polite. No experience is necessary. Part-time hours 9:30am-4:30pm. Additional hours are optional and as needed. Responsible for checking in guests and getting them started on their memory making adventure around our 2+ acre gardens & research library. As the face of Sherman Library & Gardens you will need to be able to work solo as well as with others, checking in guests, selling memberships and classes, tiding, restocking and answering phones.

Responsibilities:

● Learn Givecloud point-of-sale system

● Learn the Giftshop register and cash management

● Upsell membership to visitors, encourage membership renewals with upgrades to meet

sales goals.

● Provide effective professional customer service: in-person, or telephonically to assist

with membership sales, ticket sales, visitor complaints, and apply creative problem

solving when responding to visitor concerns.

● Address visitors in a welcoming, polite, and courteous manner

● Partner with facilities, restaurant staff and events staff to deliver an exceptional visitor

experience

● Resolve visitor issues and determine when appropriate to bring problems to Managers

● Responsible for opening and closing the Gardens each day

● Responsible for reconciling and cash management.

● Troubleshoot technology and database problems as needed

Duties and Requirements:

● Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, holidays, and weekends

● Cash handling/cash register experience

● An approachable, friendly, enthusiastic demeanor

● Reliable attendance

● Adherence to dress code policy

● Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills

● Experience working in an environment with diverse cultures and backgrounds

● Ability to work outdoors, in all weather conditions, as needed with extended periods of

time standing, with or without accommodation

Qualifications:

● Must be self-motivated, focused with a strong work ethic

● Presents in a neat, clean, and well-dressed manner appropriate for customer service

● Ability to engage with guests in a positive and pleasant manner

● Must be personable, organized, and nimble as situations require.

● Experience with Donor Perfect / GiveCloud or similar database preferred or proficiency

to learn

● Customer service experience

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit, speak, hear,

stand, and walk. Prolonged periods of sitting while performing administrative tasks. The

employee is frequently required to use hands to keyboard. May occasionally push, pull, or lift

items weighing up to 35 lbs. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals

Work Environment:

Work is performed in a traditional office environment and outdoors in the garden and other outdoor buildings. While performing the duties of this position, there will be traversing through occasionally uneven garden terrain. Pay: $17.50 per hour
