JOB TITLE: Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor
(Non-Exempt)
Reports To: Sr. Director, Center for Personal & Professional Development
Summary: The Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (VRC) provides individualized
career counseling, vocational assessment, and employment support services to
individuals seeking to obtain, retain, or advance in meaningful employment. The
counselor works collaboratively with participants, management, training providers, and
referral agencies to develop realistic vocational goals and career pathways aligned
with participants’ skills, interests, and abilities.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive vocational assessments, including interests, skills,
aptitudes, and employment barriers
Develop Individualized Employment Plans (IEPs) or vocational service plans in
collaboration with participants
Provide career counseling, job readiness coaching, and labor-market guidance
Assist participants with career exploration, training placement, credentialing,
and certification pathways
Support participants with resume development, cover letters, interview
preparation, and job search strategies
Coordinate referrals to education, training programs, internships,
apprenticeships, and supportive services
Maintain regular communication with management, training partners, and
funding agencies, such as Access-VR
Monitor participant progress and provide ongoing follow-up and retention
support
Maintain accurate and timely case documentation, progress notes, and
required reports
Ensure compliance is maintained and upheld with Exponents policies, funding
requirements, and confidentiality standards
Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and professional development
activities
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Human Services, Social Work, Psychology,
Rehabilitation, or other related field is required
Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or related field is preferred
Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in vocational counseling, workforce
development, or case management
Knowledge of career development theory, employment supports, and
vocational rehabilitation services
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and documentation skills
Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including individuals with
disabilities, justice involvement, or employment barriers
Familiarity with credentialing pathways, vocational exemptions, and training
verification processes
Experience working with Access-VR, workforce development programs, or
behavioral health systems
Bilingual or multilingual

Salary
$50,000 to $50,000 annually
