As Secretary & Treasurer, you will play a key part in maintaining compliance, managing financial records, and supporting strategic planning efforts. Duties

  • Oversee the organization’s administrative functions, including preparing agendas, recording minutes, and maintaining official records of meetings
  • Manage the organization’s financial activities, including cash management, accounts payable and receivable, and bank reconciliations using software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero
  • Prepare detailed financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and regulatory filings aligned with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance
  • Conduct regular general ledger reconciliation and account analysis to ensure accuracy of financial data
  • Assist in budgeting processes, forecasting financial needs, and monitoring expenditures to support sustainable growth
  • Ensure compliance with governmental and nonprofit regulations through accurate regulatory reporting and documentation
  • Facilitate effective communication between board members and stakeholders regarding financial status and organizational policies

Requirements

  • Proven experience in nonprofit accounting or related fields such as governmental or public accounting
  • Strong understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and account reconciliation techniques
  • Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards including GAAP, IFRS, SOX requirements, and nonprofit-specific reporting obligations
  • Demonstrated ability to manage cash flow, perform financial analysis, and prepare comprehensive financial reports
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for maintaining accurate records and documentation
  • Ability to interpret complex financial data into clear insights for board members and stakeholders
