Job Responsibilities: What you will do

Direct all human capital functions of the corporation in accordance with policies, practice and culture of Knight while maintaining ethical standards of business, society, laws, regulations, and rulings. Responsible for strategic human resource planning to provide the company with the best talent available and to position the company as a best in class employer by being aware of policies, practices, and trends within the transportation and related industries.

• Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct, and evaluate the organization's human resource function and performance.
• Translate the strategic and tactical business plans into HR strategic and operational plans.
• Participate in the development of company plans and programs as a strategic partner particularly focused on the impact to the company workforce.
• Evaluate and advise on the impact of long range planning of new programs/strategies and regulatory action as those items impact the attraction, motivation, development and retention of resources.
• Develop staffing strategies and implementation plans and programs to identify talent within and outside the corporation for positions of responsibility.
• Create human resource planning models to identify competency, knowledge, and talent gaps and develop specific programs for filling those gaps.
• Continually assess the competitiveness of all programs and practices against the relevant comparable companies, industries, and markets.
• Implement appropriate policies and programs for effective management of the workforce.
• Coordinate the activities, programs, and strategic HR initiatives with other departments throughout the company.
• Manage the budget and other financial measures of the Human Resources Department.
• Proactively work to assist others in achieving the organization's objectives.

Qualifications: What you need to bring

• 8+ years experience in HR required.
• 4+ years experience leading people required.
• Previous experience in transportation preferred.
• Bachelor's in HR or related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience required.
• MBA preferred.
• Must have proven ability to influence and coach at all levels of the organization.
• Must be excellent communicator capable of tailoring messages to audiences of all levels.
• Must be able to cultivate culture of trust and openness.
• Must have excellent analytical skills and able to provide solutions that align with the organization's strategic goals.
• Must be able to facilitate meetings and speak in public.
