VP of People Operations

About Stubbs Dental

Stubbs Dental is one of Utah's most recognized and respected specialty dental groups; especially as a three-time Best of State winner known for life-changing smile transformations through our signature AOX full smile makeover. You've seen us on billboards and TV, and heard us on the radio. We operate high-profile, multi-location practices from Layton to Lehi, with a team of 84+ professionals who are passionate about redefining what dental care looks like. We don't just treat patients, we change lives.

The opportunity

We're looking for a strategic, people-first leader to join our Senior Team as VP of People Operations. This is not just a traditional HR leader role. You'll sit at the executive table, report directly to the CEO, and play an active part in shaping how our organization grows, operates, and thrives. You'll partner with department heads across both our clinical and business operations teams to build the culture, talent, and systems that allow Stubbs Dental to continue scaling and delivering exceptional patient outcomes.

What you'll do

  • Lead all people operations functions (talent acquisition, onboarding, retention, performance management, compensation, and compliance ) across our four Utah clinic locations and sister company lab.
  • Partner with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team on organizational planning, strategic initiatives, and operational execution
  • Work closely with department heads on both the clinical (dental) and business operations sides to understand workforce needs and build tailored people strategies
  • Serve as a culture champion by regularly visiting our Layton, Bountiful, Murray, and Lehi locations, and our lab, building authentic relationships with staff at every level, and ensuring our team feels supported and engaged
  • Develop and implement scalable HR systems and processes that support a growing, multi-location organization
  • Drive workforce planning and succession strategies to ensure we have the right people in the right roles as we grow
  • Lead employee relations with empathy, consistency, and sound judgment

What we're looking for

  • A seasoned HR professional with at least 5 years of progressive experience in human resources or people operations, with a track record of growing into increasing levels of responsibility
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field strongly preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered
  • Proven experience in a senior HR or people operations leadership role, ideally within a multi-location or multi-site organization
  • Background in dental, medical, or healthcare operations strongly preferred, meaning you understand the nuances of managing clinical staff alongside business teams
  • A strategic thinker who is equally comfortable building processes and rolling up their sleeves to execute
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; you build trust quickly, communicate clearly, and bring out the best in people
  • Comfortable with a hybrid schedule that includes regular travel to our Utah clinic locations
  • Experience managing HR functions for a team of 75+ employees
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, growth-oriented environment. As we continue expanding our clinic footprint across Utah and into new states, this role will evolve and we're looking for someone who thrives on building the plane while flying it

The right person for this role also:

  • Brings a demonstrated track record of leadership; not just managing processes, but inspiring people, driving results, and leaving teams and organizations measurably better than they found them
  • Is deeply KPI-driven. You believe in “measuring what matters” and are comfortable getting into the details to understand what the data is telling you about your people and your organization
  • Sees every employee as a vital contributor to their team, not just a headcount. You lead with genuine respect for the individual and the role they play
  • Doesn't shy away from hard conversations; you hold yourself and others accountable with candor, consistency, and care
  • Champions a culture of continuous learning. You actively invest in individual growth and team development as a core part of how the organization performs
  • Is equally comfortable in conversations with front desk staff and seasoned clinicians alike; you know how to connect with and earn the respect of everyone in the room, including our doctors

Compensation & benefits

Starting salary of $95,000, with total compensation dependent on experience. Full benefits package includes:

  • Medical insurance
  • Dental coverage
  • Paid time off (PTO)

Work arrangement

Hybrid — a combination of remote work and in-office time at our Utah locations spanning from Layton to Lehi. As well as our Lab and HQ business office in Midvale. Regular visits to our four clinic sites are expected and encouraged. If you believe people operations happens in the hallways as much as the boardroom, you'll fit right in here.
