VT Quality Inspector II

Job Description

GNB Global Inc. is a manufacturing and construction services company specializing in engineered steel-framed fabric tensioned buildings. As a leader in the industry, we are rapidly growing and looking for a Visual Testing (VT) Quality Inspector II to join our Quality Assurance team in Rhome, TX.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform Level II Visual Testing (VT) inspections of materials, welds, and fabricated assemblies in accordance with applicable codes, drawings, and customer specifications.
  • Inspect welds before, during, and after welding for defects including cracks, undercut, porosity, overlap, incomplete fusion (visible), arc strikes, and other surface discontinuities.
  • Verify weld profile, size, fit-up, and workmanship using weld gauges, calipers, tape measures, straightedges, and other inspection tools.
  • Ensure inspections are performed in accordance with AWS 01 .1, project specifications, company procedures, and quality standards.
  • Review fabrication drawings, weld symbols, WPSs, and PQRs for compliance and quality requirements.
  • Document and report inspection results accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Issue inspection reports, NCRs, and support corrective actions as required.
  • Assist with development, implementation, and continuous improvement of inspection procedures.
  • Mentor and assist Level I inspectors as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • VT Level II Certification in accordance with ASNT SNT-TC-1A or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of visual inspection experience in a steel fabrication or manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code.
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, weld symbols, specifications, WPSs, and quality documentation.
  • Proficient with weld gauges, calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and other inspection tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and background check.

Work Environment Frequently push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Stand for extended periods of time.
  • Work in hot, cold, dusty, and noisy manufacturing environments.
  • Exposure to welding fumes, grinding operations, and galvanized material environments.
