Caseworker-Wage Withholding Department

Position Summary

The Jefferson County Attorney’s Office Division of Child Support is hiring caseworkers in the wage withholding section of our Enforcement Department to verify employment of child support obligors and issue wage withholding and medical support orders to the employers of obligated parents

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Researches cases files to determine and verify that a wage withholding order is appropriate to forward to an employer or provider of benefits.
  • Contacts employers to verify employment.
  • Answers incoming calls from employers.
  • Updates and maintains case information in the child support system
  • Works reports performance related reports
  • Investigates incoming payments to ensure there is not more than one active wage withholding order in place and issues amended or termination orders if necessary
  • Issues Medical Support Notices
  • Makes case referrals to other departments if additional action is necessary
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

SKILLS/ABILITIES: Must be a mature individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have the ability to work with the public in a professional manner, showing respect, patience, and understanding. Exhibit the ability to follow direction from others and follow through with appropriate information or action when requested. Ability to retain detailed information and a high level of attention to detail is needed. Must possess strong organizational and time management skills and must be able to work independently.

EDUCATION: High school graduate or its equivalent.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: None

Salary: $37,440.00 per year/ $18.00 per hour (Funding is in whole or in part from federal, DCSS, or other state funds)
