Duties
- Greet patients, visitors, and staff with professionalism and courteous phone etiquette at the front desk.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, including intake documentation review and appointment scheduling using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and proper filing of medical records in EMR systems such as eClinicalWorks or Dentrix.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and assist with billing processes including medical collection procedures.
- Coordinate communication between clinical teams by relaying messages, updating care plans, and managing multi-line phone systems efficiently.
- Assist with medical coding tasks including ICD-10/ICD-9/ICD coding, CPT coding, and documentation review to support accurate billing and record keeping.
- Support administrative tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), appointment scheduling, and managing office supplies to ensure a well-organized clinic environment.
- Coordinate central supply.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical office management or healthcare administrative support within a clinic or hospital setting.
- Strong knowledge of EMR systems such as PCC
- Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and insurance verification processes.
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and health information management software.
- Exceptional patient service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities.
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Prior experience working with dental terminology or dental clinic operations is a plus.
- Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially in accordance with HIPAA standards.
