Warehouse and Logistics Lead

Job Summary
The Warehouse & Logistics Lead is a part-time role responsible for ensuring that the warehouse runs smoothly each day, with a focus on coordinating daily operations, directing trustees (work release inmates) and volunteers, overseeing donation intake and flow, executing food rescue pickups at local grocery stores, and maintaining an organized, safe warehouse. This hands-on role supports facility upkeep and ensures donations are processed efficiently in a dynamic, community-based environment.

This role requires someone comfortable with providing and facilitating clear direction, and teamwork; physical tasks are completed with the support of trustees and volunteers.

The Committee on Church Cooperation (CCC) is a charitable organization that serves families in Decatur and the surrounding area by distributing food, household goods, and essential items to those in need. As the Warehouse & Logistics Lead, you play a critical role in ensuring donations reach the people who rely on them, helping to reduce food insecurity and strengthen the community. This role works in a structured environment with daily routines, alongside the flexibility required in community-based operations.

What You'll Do

  • Run daily food rescue pickups at local grocery stores
  • Direct and supervise trustees by providing clear tasks, consistent oversight, and hands-on correction when needed
  • Manage donation intake and flow
  • Ensure the daily upkeep of the facility: trash, floors, and general order by working through the trustee crew

What We're Looking For

  • Leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred, but not required
  • Comfortable directing people firmly and respectfully, including individuals from correctional work-release programs
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently within established systems
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Physically able to move donated goods (25–50 lbs) using team lifts and trustee support, on concrete floors, in fluctuating temperatures, with moderate noise, including use of stairs and ladders.
  • Valid driver's license; ability to operate CCC vehicles
  • Calm, professional demeanor with the public or in difficult situations
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Warehouse, logistics, volunteer coordination, or nonprofit/community service experience preferred, but not required

Schedule/ Benefits

  • Part time, 26-28 hours a week
  • Role starting at $13.50- $16.50 per hour with annual raises
  • Standard hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM (3 day weekend!)
  • 6–8 non-standard days per year (fundraisers and special events)
  • PTO and sick hours available after 90 days with progressive pto
  • General flexibility within the role for appointments with notice

Physical Demands

  • Heavy lifting is a regular part of this job, typically 25-50 pounds
  • Time spent on concrete floors, in the heat, and using stairs and ladders

Education and Experience
Relevant experience in warehouse operations, logistics, volunteer coordination, or community-based work preferred. Leadership experience highly preferred. We value reliability, professionalism, and the ability to work well with a diverse group of staff and volunteers.
