Warehouse Manager

Title: Warehouse Manager (WMGR)


Job Summary:

The Warehouse Manager reports directly to the Branch Operations Manager and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the warehouse, maintaining high levels of accuracy in the daily operations. The Warehouse Manager leads and develops the warehouse employees to meet the safety, quality, and productivity goals of the warehouse.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensures World Class service in daily interaction with all levels of personnel within the company, customers, and suppliers
  • Ensures all work is performed to company approved procedures, standards, and specifications
  • Work closely with team to ensure that quality and productivity requirements are maintained and communicated to each team member
  • Ensure the team is adequately staffed, managed, and trained
  • Promote safety and maintain the awareness of a safe work environment
  • Handle all relevant employee timekeeping record requirements, vacation scheduling, performance reviews and disciplinary actions
  • Keep immediate supervisor fully informed of all matters of significance and take prompt corrective action where necessary or suggest alternatives
  • Perform all necessary management functions to effectively and efficiently manage the personnel assigned. Responsible for the interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating, performance management, and firing of warehouse personnel
  • Communicates areas of accountability and performance expected of personnel assigned
  • Create and maintain a positive working environment to promote employee morale and productivity
  • Maintain inventory control
  • Ensures pulling orders with 100% accuracy and package safely to load on trucks
  • Ensures the loading and unloading of trucks daily
  • Receiving and checking accuracy of inventory received from vendors
  • Ensure housekeeping and cleanliness of all work areas. Ensure dock areas, outside dock areas, break areas, and bathrooms are organized, clean, free of debris, and in good working conditions
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with established company policies to achieve the overall objectives of this position
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position manages all warehouse employees of the department and is responsible for leadership, performance management, and hiring and firing of the employees within its department.

Physical and Work Environment:

  • Must be able to work in a warehouse environment (inside/outside)
  • Ability to work in a cold freezer below -20 degrees
  • Lifting, standing, reaching, climbing is required on an ongoing basis
  • Must be able to frequently lift/move 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to grip a minimum of 45 lbs. with each hand

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma / GED Equivalent.
  • A four-year degree from an accredited college, preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a frozen and refrigerated warehouse or distribution center
  • Knowledge of shelf dates / rotations on items
  • Strong work ethics and professionalism
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong focus on quality and ability to master productivity
  • Excellent time management
  • Ability to effectively interact with hourly team members, management, and executive team
  • Demonstrates Can Do approach in responding to customer’s request as well as other team members across organization
  • Acts with a sense of urgency and can meet deadlines
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings and/or weekends to meet business demands
  • Must be computer proficient
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English as it relates to job duties and safety regulations

  • No visible tattoos or piercings permitted while in the workplace
  • Contingent upon the successful completion of a company-initiated and approved background check and motor vehicle report (MVR), drug screen, physical, and human performance evaluation (HPE)
