Position Summary

The Warehouse Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of warehouse activities, including inventory control, receiving, storage, fulfillment, shipping, material handling, safety, staffing, workflow optimization, and warehouse organization. This role ensures that materials are stored and moved efficiently, orders are processed accurately and on time, and daily operations support company growth and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities1. Warehouse Operations & Workflow

  • Oversee daily warehouse operations: receiving, put-away, picking, packing, staging, and shipping.
  • Ensure efficient material flow from incoming freight through storage to outbound delivery.
  • Optimize workflow and layout for storage of flooring, baseboards, padding, and accessories.
  • Manage warehouse inventory accuracy and cycle counts.

2. Inventory Management

  • Maintain inventory accuracy (physical vs system) through cycle counts and reconciliation.
  • Implement and enforce inventory control procedures (FIFO/LIFO, labeling, storage standards).
  • Coordinate with purchasing/procurement to address discrepancies, damages, and overstock.
  • Manage SKU organization for accessibility and efficient order fulfillment.

3. Staffing and Leadership

  • Supervise, train, and schedule warehouse staff including forklift operators and warehouse associates.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and coaching.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols, company policies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Hire, onboard, and develop staff to improve productivity and retention.

4. Safety and Compliance

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant warehouse environment.
  • Conduct safety audits, training, and enforce OSHA/NFPA standards.
  • Manage forklift and equipment safety, inspections, and certifications.

5. Order Accuracy & Customer Service

  • Ensure orders are picked, packed, staged, and shipped accurately and on time.
  • Resolve operational issues affecting deliveries, damages, or missing items.
  • Coordinate with sales and customer service to support special client needs.

6. Equipment & Facility

  • Oversee maintenance and repair of warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, conveyors, racking).
  • Monitor warehouse facility conditions and coordinate improvements.
  • Manage warehouse supplies and replenish operational materials.

7. Reporting & Metrics

  • Prepare and report daily/weekly/ monthly warehouse KPIs: order accuracy, on-time shipping, inventory variance, labor productivity, receiving throughput, shrinkage.
  • Use data to identify bottlenecks and recommend process improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of warehouse management experience (flooring, building materials, retail distribution preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control, and logistics.
  • Experience with warehouse technology (WMS, RF scanners, Excel, supply chain systems).
  • Leadership experience with proven track record in managing hourly staff.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to become certified.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in building materials or flooring distribution.
  • Experience implementing lean/continuous improvement processes.
  • Proficiency with warehouse management systems and reporting tools.

Working Conditions

  • Warehouse environment with frequent standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs).
  • Use of forklifts and material handling equipment.
  • Collaborative interaction with sales, delivery, purchasing, and admin teams.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
