WAREHOUSE SUPERVISOR (HOUSTON)

Fast-paced Distribution Company is looking for Warehouse Supervisor for immediate employment at our warehouse location in Houston, TX (Near Hobby Airport).

As Warehouse Supervisor, you will ensure that our quality standards are maintained by directing all day-to- day warehouse operations including, but not limited to, employee management, Environmental, Health and Safety Programs, Customer Service and relations, inventory management, efficient warehouse utilization and activities, and internal processes and documentation, including CTPAT. The Warehouse Supervisor is also responsible for enforcing standard operating procedures to ensure safe, effective and efficient operations. This role also includes interfacing with management and other department co- workers.

JOB RESPONSIBILTIES
Strategic and tactical work for which this position is accountable:

  • Directs and conducts all day-to-day warehouse operations
  • Directs warehouse employees including daily tasks, and team activities
  • Supervises warehouse employees work schedules, disciplinary actions, hiring and terminations
  • Ensure that all deadlines and timelines are met for each inbound and outbound delivery
  • Ensure that all deliveries are tracked, completed and verified
  • Understands role in servicing the customer through efficiency and quality of operations
  • Responsible for leading, and the effective implementation of, all facets of the Global Agri-Trade

  • Required to comply with, and ensure that all employees comply with all Global Agri-Trade's policies

  • Responsible for the establishment of CTPAT procedures and processes
  • Work in unison with the Director of Warehousing, Logistics Manager, Sales Teams, and Vice President Operations to represent a continuous culture of Employee Safety and Well-Being
  • Continually develop knowledge of warehouse standards, standard operating procedures, and good manufacturing practices, and ensure that the warehouse maintains these standards
  • React to all concerns regarding product or service quality with a sense of urgency, troubleshoot problems, and rectify
  • Follow the guidance provided by the Management Team
  • Manage load request schedules, customer contact and coordination
  • Tracks warehouse inventory of products, advising Planning and Customer Service Teams if levels are inadequate to operate efficiently
  • Responsible for the maintenance of all required records and monitoring of lot numbers
  • Effectively manage external freight carriers while on site
  • Operate within the legal requirement of FDA, USDA, OSHA and the Food Safety Modernization Act
  • Organize stock, plan and manage storage of product utilizing FIFO and other appropriate SOPs
  • Utilize and maintain records for QMS (Quality Management System) working toward GMP+ / BRC designation
  • Directs product sampling procedures
  • Looks for opportunities to eliminate re-work, waste, etc., and informs management of potential improvements
  • Ensures personal and departmental job tasks are prioritized and completed efficiently and within the required time
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area and requires others to do the same
  • Communicates with employees regarding updated information and provides the proper tools and training so employees can effectively carry out job functions
  • Partners with other Warehouse teams to implement company programs, as well as ensure departments are functional and that all management directed service standards are met
  • Works with Management to ensure employee needs are met (i.e. right training, knows benefits), and complies with Global Agri-Trade Policies and Work Rules, as well as federal and state laws (attendance, etc.)
  • Teaches, encourages and trusts, as appropriate, employees to take on new responsibilities and monitors their progress
  • Provides input and participates in performance management / discipline when appropriate and utilizes company documentation procedures for compliance and performance issues
  • Acts as a team player (supports and encourages co-workers) and treats co-workers with respect
  • Practices and complies with all policies and procedures

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Capabilities and traits essential to perform satisfactorily

  • The ability to set priorities, multi-task and have excellent time management skills
  • Meeting all deadlines and timelines are met for each transaction, business process
  • Strong knowledge and experience of warehouse and freight operations
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Word/Excel/Outlook required
  • Prior operating knowledge of Inventory Management Programs or ERP systems
  • Hands on experience with forklift and pallet jack with proper certification, measurement tool, packaging tools, scanning equipment and computers and associated software
  • Physical requirement necessary for warehouse operations
  • Experienced in contractor / handyman essentials enough to mange building maintenance needs and vendors
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in typical warehouse equipment and fixes
  • Warehouse set up and team recruitment experience
  • Ability to initiate, coordinate and enforce operational policies and procedures
  • High levels of personal character, honesty and integrity

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 5 years warehouse and operations supervisory experience
  • Minimum 2 years Customer service experience
  • A college degree or equivalent is preferred but not necessary for the right candidate (or US Armed Forces experience. Please let us know your level)
  • Forklift Certification is preferred
  • English required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
