Wash & Prep Lead

Hawke Trailers SC Inc. is a leading manufacturer of high-quality trailers. We pride ourselves on our commitment to excellence and our focus on maintaining the highest standards in production. We are seeking a dedicated and hands-on Production Lead to oversee our wash bay and deburring area.

Job Description:

The Wash & Prep Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily flow, timing, and coordination of trailers through the prep and paint process. This role ensures that production moves efficiently, painters are consistently set up for success, and there are no gaps, bottlenecks, or delays between stages.

This individual acts as the key link between prep and paint—proactively working and assisting workflow and maintaining a steady, organized pace from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities

Production Flow Management

• Monitor and manage the movement of trailers through the prep process from prep to paint completion
• Ensure consistent and efficient workflow, minimizing downtime and bottlenecks
• Coordinate with upstream and downstream teams to ensure units are ready when needed
• Adjust priorities throughout the day based on production needs and changing conditions

Painter Support & Readiness

• Ensure painters have all required materials, equipment, and trailers staged and ready
• Proactively identify and resolve issues that could slow down production
• Set the paint team up for success at the end of each day (materials staged, units prepped, schedule aligned)
• Maintain clear communication with prep and paint on priorities and upcoming work

Scheduling & Coordination

• Maintain visibility of daily and next-day production schedules
• Sequence work to maximize efficiency and throughout
• Communicate delays, risks, or changes to leadership in real time
• Work closely with production leadership to align on goals and output

Quality & Accountability

• Ensure trailers entering the paint phase meet prep and quality standards
• Hold team accountable to timelines and expectations

Leadership & Team Support

• Act as the go-to person for the prep area during the shift
• Provide direction and support to team members as needed
• Lead by example with urgency, organization, and accountability
• Foster a team-first, solutions-oriented environment

Qualifications

• Previous experience in manufacturing, production, or prep operations preferred
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Proven ability to problem-solve and think ahead
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Self-motivated with a high sense of ownership and accountability

Hours: Monday - Friday (Saturday's as needed)
6:00am - 2:45pm or until job is done

Pay: $20-$22/ hour based on experience - with potential for bonus
