Are you looking for a HGV Driver role with a difference? Do you want a role serving the local community with Torridge? If so, then working for Torridge District Council as a Driver/Loader may be the role for you. Our Driver’s work alongside our Loaders, collecting waste and recycling from properties across the district. Rounds are set, so you will get to know the local community and work with your team to ensure the best service is provided. Hours are worked on a task and finish basis, starting your day early and finishing once your round is complete.

This is a very hands on role, that includes driving and loading, and the successful candidate must be able to cope with the physical and at times pressurised nature of the job, with the ability to work on their own initiative whilst also working within a hard working team.

The successful candidate will be based at our new Operational Services Centre which means being part of a forward‑thinking, well‑invested service that values its people, provides modern equipment and facilities, and takes pride in delivering high‑quality services to local communities. It is a clean, well‑designed, and professional environment that reflects the importance of the work our teams do every day.

Applicants must hold a full UK HGV driving licence.
