Waste Management Specialist (D Shift Thursday - Sat 6:00PM - 6:30AM)

Position Summary:

The Waste Management Specialist will be responsible for all waste that the building produces. Collect, consolidate, and dispose of all bakery and warehouse waste, broken pallets, corrugated totes, cardboard and any other waste items that are generated in the daily operations of the facility. Separation of recyclable wastes with the aim to reduce waste to landfill is a significant component of this position. All waste will be tracked in order to maintain sustainability KPIs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

· Follow safety policies and protocols; alerting others regarding potential concerns.

· Uphold highest standards of food safety and product quality through observance of allergen protocols, and Good Manufacturing Practices; promptly report food safety and quality issues as necessary

· Foster a positive culture of respect and teamwork by treating coworkers with dignity and striving to exemplify the Bobo’s values: Collaborative, Adaptable, Passionate, Perseverant, and Fun-Loving

· Demonstrates understanding of Bobo’s sustainability objectives

· Demonstrates understanding of waste management’s support of Bobo’s Operations Department needs and objectives

· Communicates effectively with Managers, Supervisors and leads in other departments to achieve both their needs and Waste Management’s objectives

· Takes initiative to resolve an issue upon identification and resolves it satisfactorily while meeting operational needs

· Interfaces effectively with outside waste vendors

· Maintains the highest GMP and Sanitation standards

· Receive training on proper practices

· Understands and supports Bobo’s Master Safety Rules and performs work-related activities in the safest possible manner.

· Remove trash throughout the warehouse, production floor, and waste/recycle area

· Load trucks with a forklift for Reuse and Recycle purposes

· Remove broken pallets from production and stage them in a recycle trailer

· Break down corrugated totes (Coconut Oil, Brown Rice Syrup, Sunflower Oil) with a box cutter and skill saw

· Dispose of non-recyclable trash into trash compactor

· Operate a cardboard baler

· Maintain a clean work area

· Maintains the highest level of conduct, reliability and independent responsibilities with minimal supervision

· Perform other tasks as needed and assigned through the EHS Department

· Regular, consistent attendance is an essential function of this position

Marginal Duties Performed Less Frequently:

· Learn and understand established metrics for department success

· Work overtime occasionally, as needed

Supervisory Responsibility:

None – this position will not be responsible for supervising other employees

Qualification Summary:

· Must be detail-oriented and observant.

· Strong communication skills and the ability to form rapport with employees.

· Ability to work with minimal oversight

· Must be able to operate a forklift and various power tools

· Must be vigilant

· Ability to work collaboratively within small and large, diverse teams as well as ability to work independently

Education / Experience Desired:

· Prior experience with food processing, waste management and/or warehousing desired

· HS Diploma or GED

Language/Mathematical/Reasoning Ability:

· Must be able to speak clearly and effectively.

· Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

· Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Supervision Given:

· This position will report to the EHS Director through the Waste Management Coordinator

· The position holder is expected to be able to work with minimal oversight, able to confidently handle situations on their own.

General manufacturing working conditions exists. Exposures include, but are not limited to temperature changes, noise, dust, and moving equipment and machinery.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, use hands to grip and handle objects; reach with hands and arms; and see, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is required to have the ability to drive a motor vehicle, and communicate using a two-way device.

Additional physical demands include:

· Ability to lift up to 50lbs

· Standing on feet for long periods of time

· Ability to operate hand and powered tools

· Ability to operate a forklift

Work Location:

This position will work on-site at our facility in Loveland, CO

Travel Required:

None – This position will not be required to travel.

Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
