Job Summary
The Waste Technician is responsible for the safe collection, handling, processing, and disposal of waste materials in compliance with environmental regulations, company policies, and safety standards. This role supports efficient waste management operations while promoting environmental responsibility and workplace safety. This role works closely with the Waste Coordinator and reports directly to the Waste Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, sort, and transport waste materials according to established procedures
- Operate waste handling equipment such as compactors, forklifts, pumps, and collection vehicles
- Identify, label, and segregate hazardous and non-hazardous waste
- Ensure proper disposal of waste in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance of waste equipment and containers
- Maintain accurate records, logs, and manifests related to waste handling and disposal
- Follow all safety protocols, including use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Respond to spills, leaks, or emergency situations following approved procedures
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of waste storage and work areas
- Assist with audits, inspections, and environmental compliance activities as needed
- Support Waste Coordinator and Waste Manager in other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to lift, carry, and move materials up to 50 pounds
- Basic knowledge of safety practices and environmental compliance
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Willingness to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in waste management, environmental services, or industrial operations
- Forklift or equipment operation experience
- Hazardous waste handling or OSHA training
- Basic computer skills for recordkeeping and reporting

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
