Duties

• Operate and monitor wastewater treatment equipment including pumps, valves, filters, and chemical feeders to ensure optimal performance.
• Utilize programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS) to automate processes and troubleshoot system issues efficiently.
• Conduct routine inspections of treatment facilities, including tanks, pipelines, plumbing systems, and heavy equipment to identify maintenance needs or repairs.
• Perform heavy lifting tasks involving equipment parts or materials necessary for plant operation and maintenance.
• Collect and analyze data related to water quality parameters such as pH levels, turbidity, chemical concentrations, and flow rates to maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
• Maintain detailed records of operational activities, equipment repairs, maintenance schedules, and data logs for reporting purposes.
• Perform basic math calculations for chemical dosing adjustments or flow measurements to ensure precise treatment processes.
• Assist with construction or upgrade projects by supporting installation or repair of new systems or infrastructure components.
• Conduct equipment repairs or replacements as needed, utilizing mechanical knowledge and plumbing skills to troubleshoot issues swiftly.
• Operate heavy machinery such as tanker trucks or other large equipment safely within the plant environment.
• Support emergency response procedures by quickly addressing system malfunctions or safety hazards to minimize downtime.

Requirements

• Proven experience in water or wastewater treatment operations with a strong understanding of wastewater treatment processes.
• Mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform equipment repair, plumbing tasks, and basic maintenance activities.
• Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS) used in industrial automation.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently within a treatment plant setting.
• Strong data collection and analysis skills to interpret water quality measurements accurately.
• Physical capability for heavy lifting, prolonged standing, walking, and working in confined or outdoor environments under varying weather conditions.
• Basic math skills for calculations related to chemical dosing and flow measurements.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail for troubleshooting system issues promptly.
