POSITION SUMMARY:
The Weatherization Quality Control/Inspector is responsible for the determination of initial outreach and eligibility requirements of potential clients, initial inspections and software modeling of client homes and the final inspection of all homes weatherized by NEK-CAP, Inc. This position works closely with the Weatherization Director and is responsible for the production and quality of weatherization.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform initial outreach and inspection of potential homes.
Inspect weatherization work while in progress to ensure that all work meets NEK-CAP, lnc.'s quality standards.
Perform final inspections on completed units to ensure that they meet state and federal program regulations and minimum ventilation guidelines for client safety.
Perform diagnostic mechanical testing on all heating and naturally drafted water heating units in client's homes during initial and final inspections to ensure proper functionality and the health and safety of the clients to help determine that the weatherization has been properly completed.
Perform blower door tests to measure the amount of air infiltration into the home pre and post inspection.
Monitor scheduling of contractor work to make sure that the clients are served in a timely manner. Document all change orders and re-works on all client homes.
Assist in ensuring that all necessary client paperwork is completed and on file.
Responsible for the maintenance of assigned equipment and vehicles.
Inform potential clients of Weatherization guidelines and determine if the client and or dwelling is eligible.
Educate families on the efficient use of energy and how to properly utilize the improvements made by Weatherization.
Make recommendations for increasing client satisfaction and reducing their utility bills to the Weatherization Director.
Responsible for Kansas WAP monitoring, setting appointments and· reviewing homes with monitors.
Perform all other weatherization duties assigned by the Weatherization Director.
Maintain clean documentation on work in progress, from start to finish.
Maintain communication with the Weatherization Director on all client files and jobs or status and outcomes.
Attend required state inspectors training workshops and certifications.
Attempt to ensure that all persons receiving weatherization assistance are satisfied with the work and have been properly served under the state plan's guidelines.
Work with contractors in the areas of quality of work performed and change orders.
Record measurements and perform mathematical calculations, such as square footage, length, etc.
Maintain records and ensure that NEK-CAP, lnc.’s Weatherization program is always compliant with all federal and state regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Must be willing to obtain certification by NEK-CAP, Inc. through the Kansas Housing Resources Corporation (KHRC) for weatherization inspections, heating sources, cooling measures and lead safe work practices under KWAP State Training Plan.
Preferred experience in home maintenance and or construction and knowledge of methods, tools, equipment, procedures used or willingness to learn.
Must be able to stand extreme temperature differentiation, climb ladders, lift 50 pounds or more, and work in attics and or crawlspace areas for limited amounts of time.
Willing to partake in some travel overnight and have a valid driver's license.
Capable of working in dusty conditions, including short-term exposure to various insulating materials.
Must possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team, as well as perform clean and effective communication to your team and customers.
Computer knowledge.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. Be able to go up and down stairs while carrying work related materials or other objects. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Must be able to climb ladders, work in small tight locations such as attics, and under houses. The environment can be dirty, dusty and contain insulation and other building materials that are in the air. Must be able to work in cold, hot, and wet climates due to seasonal changes.
