Weatherization Technician I

Position Title: Weatherization Technician I

Reports to: Energy Operations Manager

Status: Non-Exempt

Summary

The Weatherization Technician I installs all eligible weatherization measures to fulfill CRP’s contractual obligations to make homes energy efficient. Major tasks include the installation of energy-efficiency measures in accordance with the Technical Reference Manual (TRM), educating clients about how to use the energy-efficacy measures being installed, and accurately completing client paperwork.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

· Change out light fixtures and shower heads.

· Install exterior weather stripping, door sweeps, and door thresholds.

· Develop skills to install attic insulation, including heat barriers and vent pipes.

· Perform basic drywall patching, install electrical cover gaskets, and caulk air infiltration gaps.

· Perform inventory counts accurately.

· Complete and pass the EPA Lead Paint Abatement program within 180 days from the start of employment.

· Comprehend and utilize the CSD Technical Reference Manual within 180 days from employment commencement.

· Understand CRP/CSD project paperwork and enter basic data into forms within 180 days from starting employment.

· Complete and successfully pass the CRP installer training program within 180 days from the beginning of employment.

· Successfully complete Asbestos Awareness training, OSHA Confined Spaces training, and respirator fitting tests.

· Complete CRP sexual harassment, Fall Protection, and Heat Awareness programs on the day of onboarding.

· Adhere to all CRP Safety Program regulations, including the Injury & Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), accident response protocols, proper tool and ladder use, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) utilization.

· Comply with CRP's rules and expectations outlined in the Employee Handbook.

· Utilize CRP-provided devices, email, time-reporting software, Google Docs, and upload project pictures to designated drives.

Required Knowledge and Skills

· Possess strong writing and verbal communication skills.

· Demonstrate basic math skills.

· Identify construction materials and tools used in construction projects.

· Have experience with hand and power tools.

· Valid California Driver's License.

· Strong commitment to safety and compliance.

· Ability to learn and adapt to various technical requirements.

· Good communication and interpersonal skills.

· Basic construction and renovation knowledge.

· Technological aptitude for device and software usage.

· Lift/ and or move up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills

· 4 years of residential construction/or building experience, established a wide range of skills

· Report to work on time, unless sick, in a groomed and clean uniform, ready to perform duties effectively.

· Successfully pass a CRP criminal background check.

· Residential plumbing skills

· Residential electrical skills

· Water Heater (gas or electric) installation and repairs

· Solar Water Heater installer

· Toilet replacement

· Faucet replacement

· Doors and door jamb installation, (replacing and repairs)

· Wood and metal framing

· Glazing (glass replacing and repairs)

· Retrofit windows and sliding door installation

· Attic installation calculations and installing (blow-in and batts)

· Exterior and interior prep and paint

· Residential Solar PV installer

· Electrical wire sizing

· Appliance delivery, removal and installation (dish washer, clothes washer, refrigerator, microwave cook range, and kitchen hood ext.)

· Combustion appliance testing

· Knowledge of or certification in EPA’s Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting Program

At-Will Employment

Community Resource Projects’ (CRP) employment policy is at will. Under the at-will policy neither the employee nor CRP is committed to continuing the employment relationship for any specific term. Rather, the employment relationship will continue at will. Either side may terminate the relationship at any time, with or without cause and with or without notice. Pay: From $29.00 per hour
