Web Designer

Overview
We are seeking a talented and creative Web Designer to join our dynamic team on a part-time, flexible basis.. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in digital design and a passion for creating visually appealing and user-friendly websites. This role requires a blend of technical skills and artistic vision to enhance our online presence and improve user experience across various platforms. Work hours vary depending on active projects from 10-80 hours /mo during new website builds.

You’ll collaborate with our project manager, developers, and clients to create engaging, user-friendly designs for websites and web applications. The role is ideal for an independent designer who enjoys working on a range of digital projects and can flex their availability based on workload.

Responsibilities

• Design layouts, components, and UI elements for client websites and applications
• Create wireframes, mockups, and Designs using Figma
• Collaborate with developers to ensure accurate implementation of visual styles
• Consult on visual hierarchy, heading styles, and overall UI consistency
• Contribute to ongoing website updates, new features, and design improvements
• Ensure responsive, mobile-friendly designs aligned with accessibility best practices

Skills

• Proficiency in Figma, CSS/stylesheets, and Photoshop (or similar tools)
• Experience in responsive website design and UX/UI workflows
• Strong understanding of layout, typography, and digital design standards
• Knowledge of WCAG accessibility guidelines
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate in a remote setting
• Familiarity with Slack or similar communication tools
• Ability to manage fluctuating workloads and meet deadlines independently

Nice to Have

• Experience with Drupal or WordPress design
• Experience with EdTech or web applications
• Experience with HTML, CSS, Javascript

Work Environment

• Fully remote
• Small team of 4
• Flexible hours with preference for availability during East Coast business hours

Compensation: Hourly (commensurate with experience)

Job Types: Part-time, Contract, Freelance

Pay: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 32 per week
