As we continue expanding our digital presence, we’re looking for an experienced Web Developer to lead a variety of projects.
Position Overview: As our Contract-to-Hire Web Developer, you will take ownership of building, maintaining, and optimizing WordPress sites, implementing custom features, and ensuring integrations with various tools and APIs. In the contract period, you’ll prove your ability to deliver, with the goal of transitioning into a full-time role. You’ll work closely with designers, content teams, and marketing/operations to turn ideas into functioning, high-performance web experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, customize, and maintain WordPress sites (themes, plugins, child themes)
- Lead site migrations, redesigns, or replatforming projects
- Optimize site performance (speed, caching, query optimization, asset loading) and security hardening
- Implement responsive design and ensure cross-browser / cross-device compatibility
- Integrate third-party APIs, webhooks, and services (e.g. CRMs, payment gateways, external data feeds)
- Use automation tools such as Zapier to connect workflows and trigger actions across systems
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues (plugin conflicts, PHP errors, database issues, CSS/JS bugs)
- Maintain version control (Git or equivalent) and staging to production workflows
- Monitor website health, uptime, backups, and regular maintenance tasks (updates, patching)
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers, content creators, marketing, and ops teams to plan and deliver features
- Document code, technical decisions, and standard operating procedures for future reference
- Participate in code reviews, planning sessions, and sprint/feature estimation
Qualifications:
- 5+ years’ experience working with WordPress and Elementor (setting up, customizing, managing)
- Strong proficiency in PHP, MySQL, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (vanilla JS, jQuery, or modern frameworks)
- Proven experience integrating RESTful APIs and handling JSON/XML data
- Experience using automation / workflow tools such as Zapier or equivalents
- Familiarity with development tools and best practices (version control / Git workflows, staging environments, debugging)
- Strong problem-solving skills, ability to debug across the full stack (frontend / backend)
- Excellent communication skills (both technical and non-technical)
- Ability to self-manage time, deliver on deadlines, and work independently
- Portfolio or examples of WordPress projects you’ve built or maintained
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with headless WordPress, Gutenberg blocks, or custom block development
- Familiarity with PHP frameworks or modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, etc.)
- Experience with eCommerce (WooCommerce or other systems)
- Understanding of SEO best practices, accessibility (WCAG), and performance optimization
- Experience with DevOps or hosting infrastructure (server setup, deployment pipelines, containerization)
- Prior exposure to Agile or Scrum methodologies

Base Pay: $85,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
