Web Developer (Contractor)
Location: Remote Type: Contractor (Part-time / As-needed)
Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented Web Developer (Contractor) to provide ongoing support for our websites and landing pages. This role is primarily focused on website maintenance, troubleshooting, and content/visual updates, with some light development work as needed.
Basic graphic design skills are a bonus, but the core of this role is keeping our sites running smoothly, looking professional, and up to date.
Key Responsibilities
Website Maintenance & Support
- Update website content (copy, images, links, forms, etc.) across multiple sites and landing pages.
- Perform routine website maintenance, including plugin/theme updates and basic technical housekeeping.
- Troubleshoot and resolve website issues such as layout problems, broken links, forms not working, speed or display issues, etc.
- Collaborate with internal team members to implement requested edits in a timely manner.
- Ensure websites display correctly across major browsers and devices (basic responsiveness checks).
Web Development & Implementation
- Implement new sections, pages, or simple features on existing websites using agreed-upon platforms (e.g., WordPress, page builders, basic HTML/CSS/JavaScript).
- Build or update landing pages to support campaigns, promotions, or lead generation efforts.
- Work within existing brand guidelines and templates to keep design and structure consistent.
- Coordinate with project managers or marketing team members to clarify requirements and timelines when needed.
SEO & Performance Support (Basic)
- Implement on-page SEO updates (title tags, meta descriptions, headers, alt text, internal links) as requested.
- Help improve page structure and site organization to support user experience and basic SEO best practices.
- Flag any technical issues that could impact performance (e.g., very slow pages, obvious indexing issues).
Optional / Bonus: Graphic & Visual Support
(These are nice to have, not required.)
- Create or adjust simple web graphics (banners, hero images, buttons, icons) for use on websites and landing pages.
- Export and optimize images for web (file size, dimensions, formats).
- Assist with light design work for digital assets that support the website experience.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Web Developer, Web Support Specialist, or similar role.
- Comfortable working with content management systems (e.g., WordPress or similar).
- Strong understanding of HTML & CSS; basic JavaScript experience is a plus.
- Experience with page builders (e.g., Elementor, Divi, Gutenberg, or similar)
- Ability to troubleshoot common website issues (layout problems, plugin conflicts, forms, etc.).
- Familiarity with basic SEO best practices for on-page implementation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Reliable communication and ability to manage tasks with minimal supervision.
- Ability to estimate effort and meet agreed timelines.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with marketing funnels, landing page optimization, or conversion-focused design.
- Graphic design skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe XD/Photoshop/Illustrator).
- Familiarity with analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager) is a plus.
- Experience working with agencies or multiple client websites.
Engagement Details
- Contract role, paid hourly or per project (to be determined).
- Work is remote and flexible, with the expectation of reasonable responsiveness during business hours.
- Hours will vary based on workload, but will primarily consist of ongoing support, fixes, and scheduled updates.
