About the Role
We operate a growing network of 10 online publications, three of which are established and high-priority titles, with the remaining seven presenting significant growth opportunity. We are looking for a motivated, organised, and digitally literate Website & Content Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day running of these platforms.
This is a varied, hands-on role that sits at the intersection of content, communications, sales, and operations. You will manage incoming press releases, develop them into published news stories, handle advertising enquiries and client relationships, and keep our digital presence running smoothly across all titles.
Full training and ongoing support will be provided. As the network grows, there is a genuine opportunity to build and lead your own team.
Key Responsibilities
Content & Editorial
- Review and assess incoming press releases across all 10 websites daily, determining relevance and newsworthiness for each title.
- Rewrite and develop selected press releases into well-structured, publication-ready news articles using Claude AI tools.
- Communicate professionally and promptly with press release senders regarding acceptance, rejection, or amendment requests.
- Publish approved content to the correct websites via WordPress, ensuring accurate formatting, tagging, and SEO metadata.
- Share published stories across relevant social media channels, adapting copy and tone for each platform.
Advertising & Commercial
- Respond to inbound advertising enquiries across all websites in a timely and professional manner.
- Negotiate advertising packages and rates with direct clients and media agencies.
- Manage relationships with a portfolio of regular advertising agencies, providing outstanding client service.
- Raise invoices accurately and chase outstanding payments in line with agreed terms.
- Maintain an up-to-date record of advertising activity, pipeline, and revenue across the network.
Website Operations
- Oversee the day-to-day operational health of all 10 websites, flagging and escalating any technical issues promptly.
- Manage and organise content within WordPress across multiple sites, maintaining consistency in quality and presentation.
- Support basic email marketing activity, including campaign scheduling, list management, and reporting.
- Contribute to the growth strategy of the seven developing titles, identifying opportunities to increase traffic and engagement.
Essential Requirements
- Confident and competent user of Claude AI — able to use it effectively for content creation, editing, and workflow automation.
- Solid working knowledge of WordPress — able to publish, edit, and manage content independently across multiple sites.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English — professional in all client and stakeholder correspondence.
- Highly self-organised and process-driven — able to structure your own working day, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines without close supervision.
- Basic understanding of email marketing principles and platforms (e.g. Mailchimp or equivalent).
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a high volume of daily content.
Desirable Skills
- Experience managing social media accounts in a professional or commercial context.
- Familiarity with digital advertising formats, CPM/CPC models, or media sales.
- Basic understanding of SEO and on-page optimisation best practices.
- Experience using invoicing tools or CRM systems.
- Prior experience in a digital publishing, PR, or media environment.
