Job Summary

The Website Management Intern is responsible for supporting the maintenance, updates, and overall functionality of websites within the SLMG CO-OP creative hub. Responsibilities may include updating web content, assisting with layout and design changes, monitoring site performance, and ensuring brand consistency across all digital platforms. The intern may also support special projects and ad hoc tasks assigned by your Supervisor.

This is a volunteer, part-time, experiential learning internship requiring a 6-month commitment. Interns are expected to work a maximum of 15 hours per week and may work remotely from anywhere in the United States.

We are seeking candidates who are adaptable, detail-oriented, and eager to learn. This position reports to the SLMG CO-OP Creative Director.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support layout adjustments and basic design updates to improve user experience and site navigation
  • Ensure all web content aligns with brand guidelines and maintains visual consistency
  • Assist with the updating and maintenance of website content, including text, images, and multimedia
  • Monitor website functionality and report issues related to broken links, formatting errors, or loading problems
  • Help optimize website content for search engines (SEO) through metadata and keyword integration (as applicable)
  • Research and suggest improvements for site engagement, accessibility, and overall user experience
  • Maintain clear communication with the creative team to prioritize and complete tasks on schedule
  • Support other ad hoc digital projects as assigned by the Creative Director or Creative Coordinator

Requirements

Experience

  • 1 year - Website management platforms (e.g., Wix, Squarespace, WordPress) (Required)
  • 1 year - HTML/CSS and web formatting best practices (Preferred)

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Understanding of user experience (UX) and responsive design principles
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain brand consistency across digital content
  • Ability to troubleshoot minor website issues and follow technical instructions
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to meet deadlines
  • Willingness to learn new tools and technologies related to website management

Education

  • Must have completed 32 to 60 college credit hours in Web Design, Computer Science, Graphic Design, or a related field (Required)
  • Completion of 90 or more college credit hours in Web Design, Computer Science, Graphic Design, or a related field is preferred
  • College degree completed no more than 3 years from the application date

SLMG CO-OP is based in Ohio; thus, all staff work on Eastern Standard Time. Hours of operation are 9 AM - 9 PM to accommodate all U.S. time zones.
