ABC17 News is seeking a full-time Weekend Weather Anchor/MMJ. We are looking for someone with a great personality and attitude who is passionate about the weather. Someone who can deliver accurate forecasts using clear and conversational language that will connect with our viewers. The ideal candidate embraces social media and knows how to use lifestyle graphics, and the hand tracker to tell a clear, concise, and interesting weather story. You can develop story ideas, conduct informed interviews, build sources, and deliver compelling live shots. You will be a strong, take-charge reporter who hits the ground running every day. This position will be expected to do weather related reporting for the company's television and digital platforms three nights a week as well as produce and anchor weekend morning weather forecasts for multiple platforms.

The right candidate will be excited to join a vibrant team of meteorologists and journalists who remain on the cutting edge of this constantly changing field. The candidate must be a self-starter who is willing to work with the chief meteorologist, news director and assignment desk in a research-driven, strategic thinking newsroom.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The position's duties include creating multiplatform weather content, anchoring and producing weather forecasts for weekend morning newscasts, and reporting for the station's early evening newscasts during the week The position will be responsible for assisting in the station's aggressive multi-platform approach to weather, especially severe weather coverage and news as well. Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS: The right candidate will get our viewers ready with accurate, compelling, and understandable weather forecasts and provide immediate weather information before and during severe weather events. You will provide dally content for TV, for our radio partners, and on our digital platforms. An experienced meteorologist who is familiar with Baron Lynx graphics system is preferred. On camera reporting or anchoring experience is a plus.

HOURS/SCHEDULE: This is a full-time position, scheduled Wednesday through Sunday. Weekday hours are 9:30am – 6:30pm and weekend hours are 2:00a – 11:00a. with flexibility required by the employee.

EDUCATION: A college degree in meteorology, atmospheric sciences or a related field is preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The position will require operation of a company vehicle or a personal vehicle for business use. Candidate must pass a drug test, background check, and MVR check.
