Welder - 1st or 2nd Shift

Metko, Inc., a local leader and family-owned business in the custom metal and tank fabrication industry is seeking to directly hire a full-time Welder for either a 1st shift or a 2nd shift opening in its New Holstein, WI, facility.


*** PLEASE NOTE: FOR THIS OPENING, WE ONLY SEEK INDIVIDUALS HAVING CURRENT PROFICIENCY IN MIG/MILD STEEL WELDING PRINCIPLES. ***


1st shift hours are from 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM Monday through Friday. 2nd shift hours are from 2:30 PM to 10:30 PM Monday through Friday. Training for this position will take place on 1st shift.


We will consider individuals with all levels of welding experience. Starting pay will be commensurate with that experience.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:


The individual will (but not be limited to):



  • Follow all safety procedures.

  • Conduct MIG (and possibly TIG welding activities) on multiple types of surfaces including mild steel, stainless steel and/or aluminum components. The emphasis for this position will be MIG/mild steel welding.

  • When required, read and interpret blueprints to specifically determine weld requirements.

  • Set up and operate welding equipment to include a robotic welder.

  • Produce quality metal-fabricated parts.

  • Follow instructions on work orders and blueprints.

  • Keep work area neat and organized.

  • Complete accurate documentation as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS:



  • Proven MIG/mild steel welding skills - prefer 1+ year of current MIG experience on mild steel surfaces. MIG and/or TIG welding experience on other types of surfaces such as stainless steel or aluminum would be considered a plus.
  • Prior experience with robotic welders would also be considered a plus.

  • Successful completion of a welding curriculum from an accredited technical college would also be considered a plus.
  • Must have in-depth welding fabrication skills.
  • Ability to read or learn how to read welding blueprints containing common weld symbols and weld specifications is desired.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced setting.

  • Reliable, self-motivated, team-oriented, adept communication skills.

  • Proven safety and quality record.

  • Detail-oriented with ability to inspect material for quality conformance through the use measuring devices and drawings.
