Position Summary

JCL Energy is seeking a skilled Welding & Fabrication Technician to join our growing shop and manufacturing operations team in Sharon, PA. This role is responsible for performing welding, fabrication, repair, and metalworking activities in support of transformer manufacturing, refurbishment, structural modifications, and general shop operations.

The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, capable of reading blueprints and fabrication drawings, and comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment with minimal supervision.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

· Perform MIG, TIG, and/or Stick welding on steel and related materials

· Fabricate metal components, brackets, frames, enclosures, and structural assemblies

· Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, measurements, and work instructions

· Measure, cut, fit, and assemble materials according to specifications

· Operate fabrication equipment including grinders, saws, torches, presses, and cutting tools

· Support transformer manufacturing, repair, and refurbishment projects

· Perform structural repairs and modifications to equipment and shop components

· Inspect welds and completed work to ensure quality and accuracy standards are met

· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

· Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements

· Collaborate with shop leadership and team members to meet production schedules and project deadlines

· Assist with general shop duties as needed

Qualifications

Required

· High school diploma or GED

· 2+ years of welding and fabrication experience

· Experience in industrial manufacturing, fabrication, or heavy equipment environments

· Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings

· Familiarity with welding safety standards and PPE requirements

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to workmanship quality

Preferred

· Multi-process welding experience (MIG preferred; TIG and Stick a plus)

· AWS or other welding certifications (a plus, not required)

· Forklift and overhead crane operation experience

· Ability to fabricate from prints with limited supervision

· Strong fitting, measuring, and layout skills

· Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability

· Ability to work independently while maintaining production timelines

Physical Requirements

· Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds regularly

· Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods throughout the shift

· Comfortable working in an industrial shop environment with exposure to heat, noise, fumes, and varying temperatures

· Must be able to wear required PPE including welding helmet, gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots

Compensation & Schedule

· $26–$34/hour based on experience, skill level, and qualifications

· Day Shift | Monday–Friday

· Overtime opportunities may be available based on business needs
