Nelson Pipeline is seeking a high-performing, self-motivated Welder/Fabricator to join our team in a dual-role position. This individual will support our in-house maintenance and repair team, working on Nelson’s fleet of heavy equipment, while also serving as the lead/foreman for our Welding & Fabrication division. In this leadership role, they will oversee contracted projects including the fabrication and installation of miscellaneous metals, structural steel, and the repair and maintenance of third-party equipment, contributing to both daily operations and the continued growth of the business.
Responsibilities:

Ability to complete fabrication projects from start to finish with minimal guidance from shop manager

Ability to interpret shop drawings, cut lists, and erection drawings to fabricate and inspect full scope of project

Coordinate and keep records of work being performed for tracking purposes

Must be able to operate forklifts, man lifts, heavy equipment, fleet vehicles, etc.

Communicate and work effectively with construction management personnel

Repairing and fabricating metal components used in excavation equipment such as loaders, excavators, and compaction equipment as well as support welding needs for client equipment

Must adhere to safety protocols and standards while working on equipment. This includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), following safety procedures, and ensuring the safety of others in the vicinity.

Work closely with other members of the team, including equipment operators, mechanics, and supervisors. Effective communication and collaboration are crucial to ensure that welding tasks are performed efficiently and safely.

Keeping accurate records of welding repairs and maintenance activities is important for tracking equipment performance and compliance with safety regulations. This documentation may include maintenance logs, inspection reports, and repair records.

Must have 3+ years’ experience in welding/fabricating and the construction industry

Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a team

Familiar with MIG, TIG, and stick welding operations and procedures

Experience and ability with material handling via forklift and crane hoist

Experience with hand tools and shop tools for cutting, shearing, and drilling

Attention to detail and ability to perform fabrication within required tolerances

Self-motivated, responsible, and dependable
