Position Overview
Independently lays out, fits, and fabricates metal components to assemble structural forms, such as building members, columns, joists, frames, stairs, railings, and other parts using knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and engineering requirements, with speed, accuracy and safety.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- ·Layout, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly using measuring tools such as measuring tape, rulers, and calipers.
- Responsible for using Metal Core welding techniques to weld various components.
- Operate cutting torch, plasma, power tools and hand tools.
- Weld structural and architectural components.
- Read and understand blueprints, schematics, and instructions
- Build jigs.
- Required to use the hoist to position materials as well as some knowledge of rigging.
- Responsible for examine work for defects conformance with specifications.
- Maintain an inventory of minimum required tools. (see tools list)
- Maintain a clean welding environment.
- Follow and abide by company safety policies.
- Assist in overall production including paint prep, loading & unloading material, pulling needed material and any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Capable of working independently on complex weldments with precision and speed
- Interprets blueprints, fabrication drawings, and weld symbols independently and accurately
- Education: High School Diploma/GED.
- Welding Certification a plus, but not required.
- Experience: 1-2 years welding experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal, and organization skills.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to stand/walk and perform physical labor for most of the working shift. Pull, push, squat, stoop, climb ladders and stairs, etc. to accomplish tasks, Capable of lifting loads of up to 50lbs. May need to lift 75-100lbs (rarely).
- Valid Driver’s License with reliable transportation.
Hours
Shifts:
- Day Shift (typically M – Th., overtime on Fridays): 5 am to 3:30 pm
- M – F: 8 am to 6:30 pm
- Swing: 4 pm to 2:30 am
