  • Welding: Perform various welding processes, primarily FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding) and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), in all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead) to fabricate structural steel members.
  • Quality Control: Perform visual inspections of welds and fabricated parts to ensure they meet specified quality standards and project requirements.
  • Material Handling: Safely operate overhead cranes, jib cranes, and forklifts to move and position heavy steel materials.
  • Grinding and Finishing: Use grinders and other tools to clean spatter, smooth welds, and prepare steel surfaces for painting or shipping as required.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), lockout/tagout, and safe handling of materials and equipment.

  • Ability to pass a 3G and 4G weld test (vertical and overhead) as a condition of employment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret structural and fabrication drawings.
  • Experience with common fabrication shop machinery (ironworkers, drills, saws, etc.).
  • Knowledge of AWS (American Welding Society) D1.1 Structural Steel Code is a plus.
  • Ability to accurately use measuring tools (tape measures, calipers, squares, levels).
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for long periods, and working in a demanding shop environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Formal certification from a technical school or apprenticeship program.
